4 Today s Speakers James C. Ellis Vice President, Strategy and M&A Jim Ellis is responsible for identifying and managing new growth opportunities across the four pillars of data storage technology: magnetic, optical, flash and removable hard disk drives. Previously, Jim was General Manager of Imation s Global Product Strategy, which focused on identifying and developing new around the company s core removable optical and magnetic media businesses.jim brings more than 25 years of experience and leadership in the data storage industry. He first joined 3M in 1978, and has since held a variety of technical and business management positions within the data storage businesses of Imation and 3M Company, including the management of tape, optical and flash businesses. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota. Subodh K. Kulkarni Vice President, Global Commercial Business, R&D and Manufacturing Dr. Kulkarni began his technical career with IBM in 1989 as a research engineer responsible for the development of semiconductors and new processes in integrated circuit fabrication. He joined 3M Company in 1992 as a senior research engineer in 3M's Graphic Research Laboratory, leading the development of new imaging technology. In 1996 he became Imation's manager of the Advanced Technology Center before moving to the data storage organization in 1998 to lead the Magnetic Media Development Center and was appointed to Executive Director, Media Product and Technology Development in September, Dr. Kulkarni received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds seven U.S. patents and his research on silicon surface chemistry and application in integrated circuit fabrication is published in multiple technical publications. 4
