Matt s focus for the past 15+ years has been on PeopleSoft applications. He has served clients through the development and implementation of financial strategies and Enterprise Resource Planning software solutions, as well as PeopleSoft upgrades and re-implementations. He has extensive knowledge in business process re-engineering, process improvement, software assessment, system design, and implementation of financial systems. 5 Selective Adoption Overview Definition PeopleSoft Selective Adoption is the terminology we are using to convey what this new age of PeopleSoft delivery means to our customers. As a PeopleSoft customer on PeopleSoft 9.2, PeopleSoft Selective Adoption means: You get new capabilities without the need to upgrade ever again. You take only the changes you want, when you want. You don t need to be current on maintenance to take changes." Marc Weintraub, Oracle Senior Director Product Strategy 5

6 Selective Adoption Overview Incrementally deliver new enhancements via "Images" Images will be released every 6 to 8 weeks Oracle will deliver new capabilities 2 3 times a year in Images Remaining Images will contain tax updates and maintenance NOTE: Critical patches may be delivered in between Image releases where necessary via PRP's (PeopleSoft Release Patchset) 6

7 Selective Adoption Overview No more "major upgrades" No more massive upgrade projects Customers must still perform Tools upgrades in order to be ready to adopt enhancements from Images enhancements will never require a Tools release that is less than one year old NOTE: PeopleTools is updated separate from updates, and NOT via the PUM. 7

8 Selective Adoption Overview Customers decide when to adopt new functionality Enabled via the PeopleSoft Update Manager ("PUM") Customers can "cherry pick" the enhancements they desire, and let PUM build the pre-requisite list 8

9 Selective Adoption Overview No longer required to "stay current" Once you are on 9.2, you are "current" Customers are free to skip maintenance Customers are free to skip new features When you are ready you can select the features you want, or "Get Current" with a single Image adoption the Images are cumulative, so you can quickly get up to date Beware of getting too far behind, because this will increase the complexity of Image adoption 9

10 Selective Adoption Overview Able to preserve critical customizations PUM will allow users to incrementally update your system with new features Using a combination of the PUM, Change Assistant, Change Packages, Data Mover, and Data Migration Workbench, customers can more quickly retain and reapply customizations Oracle's intent is to deliver enhancements quickly and thus allow you to avoid customizations 10
