L&T is one of the few companies issued with the industrial license by the Government of India for the development and manufacture of Warships, Submarines, Electronic warfare systems, weapon launchers, arms and armaments including missiles, torpedoes, rockets and mines. The Engineering Design, Research and Consultancy (EDRC) Department of B&F OC with its multidisciplinary approach to design, offers integrated end-to - end solutions and technologies to meet every project requirement. Equipped with sophisticated hardware / software facilities and a strong multi-disciplinary team of 1500 design engineers, EDRC is second to none in offering innovative engineering design and consultancy services. In addition, the in-house concrete, soil and asphalt technology laboratories complements EDRC in providing cost effective solution and construction technology benefitting the customers / clients.

3 Defence Initiatives With the massive investments planned by the Ministry of Defence for developing world class systems and equipment, L&T is fully geared-up with a comprehensive range of Engineering and Construction Services to meet the specialised needs of the defence sector. B&F OC has developed expertise in Engineering, Procurement and Construction of various critical structures with hybrid technology meeting the specific needs of the defence sector. Bunkers / Shelters Inhospitable terrains, heavy snowfall and hurricane sweeping across mountains and valleys including many other environmental challenges warrants specialised shelters. L&T offers turnkey solution for such light-weight shelters with well-equipped life support systems. Shelters are of significant importance to the defence sector as it provides protection to the military forces through all weather conditions. L&T can also provide life support devices to shield against nuclear, biological and chemical attacks. The materials are cautiously sourced and selected to ensure that they withstand the adverse site conditions and natural forces. Underground Structures The design and construction of underground structures demand state-of-the-art technology in order to make it highly secure. L&T, with its engineering expertise builds structures that are impervious to water penetration and are designed for the comfort and safety of military forces and their weapons.

4 Weapon Storage Facilities Along with major strategic ammunition and weapon procurement on the anvil, comes the need to provide a safe and secure warehouse facility. L&T has the specialised expertise to offer cost-effective design solutions for critical storage facilities meeting the stringent norms of the storage and logistics of the Explosives Committee. 5 Defence Barriers and Security Systems Taming the most uninhabitable regions, risky and dangerous mountainous terrain and vulnerable borders lacking infrastructure facilities, are entrusted with the defence forces who safeguard the nation from external aggression. In order to preserve the territorial integrity and national sovereignty, it is important that our borders are safe & secure and are installed with sophisticated surveillance systems.
