This European Technical Approval is issued by the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment in accordance with: Council Directive 89/106/EEC of 21 December 1988 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of Member States relating to construction products 1, modified by the Council Directive 93/68/EEC of 22 July and Regulation (EC) N 1882/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council 3 ; Décret n du 8 juillet concernant l aptitude à l usage des produits de construction; Common Procedural Rules for Requesting, Preparing and the Granting of European Technical Approvals set out in the Annex of Commission Decision 94/23/EC 5 ; 2. The Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment is authorised to check whether the provisions of this European Technical Approval are met. Checking may take place in the manufacturing plant (for example concerning the fulfilment of assumptions made in this European Technical Approval with regard to manufacturing). Nevertheless, the responsibility for the conformity of the products with the European Technical Approval and for their fitness for the intended use remains with the holder of the European Technical Approval. 3. This European Technical Approval is not to be transferred to manufacturers or agents of manufacturer other than those indicated on page 1; or manufacturing plants other than those indicated on page 1 of this European Technical Approval. 4. This European Technical Approval may be withdrawn by the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment pursuant to Article 5 (1) of the Council Directive 89/106/EEC. 5. Reproduction of this European Technical Approval including transmission by electronic means shall be in full. However, partial reproduction can be made with the written consent of the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment. In this case partial reproduction has to be designated as such. Texts and drawings of advertising brochures shall not contradict or misuse the European Technical Approval. 6. The European Technical Approval is issued by the approval body in its official language. This version corresponds to the version circulated within EOTA. 3 Page 3 of European Technical Approval ETA-03/0520 issued on 13/06/2013 II SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF THE EUROPEAN TECHNICAL APPROVAL 1 DEFINITION OF PRODUCT AND INTENDED USE 1.1. Definition of product The rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM referred to in this document is a special cement that is not covered by a European standard EN It is a hydraulic binder with rapid hardening features. The range of compositions of ALICEM is listed below: Calcium sulphoaluminate clinker % Cement CEM I and II acc. EN % Calcium sulfate (as defined in EN 197-1, clause 5.4) 8 22 % Limestone (as defined in EN 197-1, clause 5.2.6) 0 % Minor additional constituents (as defined in EN 197-1, clause 5.3) 0 5 % Additives 6 < 1,0 % This cement complies with the specifications of the standard EN except the following points presented in Table 1. Table 1: Comparison between cement characteristics and specifications of EN Cement properties This cement contains as constituent a calcium sulphoaluminate (CSA) clinker (10 90 %) ; Specifications of EN standard EN does not authorize the sulphoaluminate clinker Initial setting time can be < 45 min Initial setting time 45 min ( 7.1.2) Sulfate (as SO 3 ) content > 4% Sulfate (as SO 3 ) content 4,0 % ( 7.4) The calcium sulphoaluminate clinker (CSAK) is made by sintering a precisely specified mixture of raw materials (raw meal, paste or slurry) containing elements, usually expressed as oxides, CaO, Al 2 O 3, SiO 2, Fe 2 O 3, SO 3 and small quantities of other materials. The calcium sulphoaluminate clinker is a hydraulic material which is composed mainly by C 4 A 3 SO 3 or C 4 A 3 $ (Yeelimite). The content of C 4 A 3 SO 3 is usually greater than 50% by mass. The remaining consisting of calcium silicates (2CaO SiO 2 ) and other compounds. Hydraulic hardening of ALICEM is primarily due to C 4 A 3 SO 3, but, when present in the composition, Portland cement also participates in the hardening process Intended use ALICEM is a cement for production of mortar, grouts and non structural concrete. ALICEM is especially characterized by a rapid hardening. 6 A chromium reducing agent is usually added in the formulation

4 Page 4 of European Technical Approval ETA-03/0520 issued on 13/06/ CHARACTERISTICS OF PRODUCT AND METHODS OF VERIFICATION 2.1 Calcium sulphoaluminate content of the product The calcium sulphoaluminate content in the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM, expressed as C 4 A 3 S, shall be determined from calcium sulphoaluminate content in the calcium sulphoaluminate clinker with XRD-analysis with Rietveld refinement and shall be 10 % by mass. 2.2 Cement composition The composition of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined by an appropriate verification method and shall be: Calcium sulphoaluminate clinker (CSA-clinker) CaSO4 (CS ) 2.3 Early strength (8 hours) (85 ± 7) % by mass (15 ± 7) % by mass The early strength of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN at 8 hours and shall be 15 MPa. The lower limit for single result is 13,0 MPa. 2.4 Standard strength at 28 days The standard strength of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN at 28 days and shall be 58 MPa. The lower limit for single result is 55,0 MPa. 2.5 Initial setting time The initial setting time of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN and shall be not greater than 25 min. The upper limit value for single results is 30 min. 2.6 Soundness The soundness of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN and shall be not greater than 10 mm. 2.7 Sulfate content The sulfate content, expressed as SO3, of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN and shall be (20,0 ± 5,0)% by mass. 2.8 Chloride content The chloride content of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined in accordance with EN and shall be not greater than 0,10 % by mass. 5 Page 5 of European Technical Approval ETA-03/0520 issued on 13/06/ Density The density of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined according to EN and shall (2,85 ± 0,20) g/cm³ Fineness (Blaine) The fineness of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be determined according to EN and shall be (5000 ± 500) cm²/g Effect of high temperature on mortar hardened under standard conditions The effect of high temperature on mortar with the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM and with Portland cement CEM I according to EN as reference preliminary hardened in climate with (20 ± 2) C and more then 95 % relative humidity (climate 20/95). At an age of 28 days the specimens are subjected to temperatures (40 C and 60 C). The development of strength is compared the strength of the samples stored at (20 ± 2) C when tested at the same age. The compressive strength of mortar with the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM at 20 C, 40 C and 60 C is shown in figure 1. System of attestation of conformity According to the communication of the European Commission 13 the system 1+ of attestation of conformity applies. The system(s) of attestation of conformity referred to above is (are) defined as follows: System 1+: Certification of the conformity of the product by a notified certification body on the basis of: (a) Tasks for the manufacturer: (1) factory production control; (2) further testing of samples taken at the factory by the manufacturer in accordance with a prescribed test plan; (b) Tasks for the notified body: (3) initial type testing of the product; (4) initial inspection of factory and of factory production control; (5) continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of factory production control; (6) audit testing of samples taken at the factory. Note: Approved bodies are also referred to as "notified bodies" Responsibilities Tasks of the manufacturer, Factory production control The manufacturer shall a factory production control system in the plant and shall exercise permanent internal control of production. All the elements, requirements and provisions adopted by the manufacturer are documented in a systematic manner in the form of written policies and procedures. This production control system ensures that the product is in conformity with the European Technical Approval. 13 Letter of the European Commission of to EOTA

7 Page 7 of European Technical Approval ETA-03/0520 issued on 13/06/2013 The manufacturer shall only use raw materials supplied with the relevant inspection documents as laid down in the prescribed test plan. The incoming raw materials shall be subject to controls and tests by the manufacturer before acceptance. The results of factory production control are recorded and evaluated. The records shall be presented to the inspection body during the continuous surveillance. On request, they shall be presented to the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment. Details of the extent, nature and frequency of testing and controls to be performed within the factory production control shall correspond to the prescribed test plan which is part of the technical documentation of this European Technical Approval Other tasks of the manufacturer The manufacturer shall, on the basis of a contract, involve a body which is approved for the tasks referred to in section 3.1 in the field of in order to undertake the actions laid down in section For this purpose, the control plan referred to in sections and shall be handed over by the manufacturer to the approved body involved. The manufacturer shall make a declaration of conformity, stating that the construction product is in conformity with the provisions of this European technical approval Tasks of approved bodies The approved body shall perform the: initial type-testing of the product, initial inspection of factory and of factory production control, continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of factory production control, audit-testing of samples taken at the factory in accordance with the provisions laid down in the control plan. The approved body shall retain the essential points of its actions referred to above and state the results obtained and conclusions drawn in a written report. The approved certification body involved by the manufacturer shall issue an EC certificate of conformity of the product stating the conformity with the provisions of this European technical approval. In cases where the provisions of the European technical approval and its control plan are no longer fulfilled the certification body shall withdraw the certificate of conformity and inform Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment without delay CE-Marking The CE marking shall be affixed on the packaging and:or accompanying documents of the product. According to Council Directive 93/68/EEC, the CE marking consists of the letters "CE" in the form laid down in the Directive, followed by the identification number of the notified certification body, where applicable. For products subject to Council Directive 89/106/EEC the identification number of the notified certification body shall be given for products to which systems 1+, 1 and/or 2+ of attestation of conformity apply. The CE marking shall be accompanied by the following information: the name and address of the producer (legal entity responsible for the manufacture), the last two digits of the year in which the CE marking was for the first time affixed, the number of the EC certificate of conformity for the product, the number of the European Technical Approval, the factory and the product name, intended use, the declared strength class (early and standard strength), If the content of organic additives is between 0,2 and 1,0 %, the content of organic additives in % by mass

9 Page 9 of European Technical Approval ETA-03/0520 issued on 13/06/ ASSUMPTIONS UNDER WHICH THE FITNESS OF THE PRODUCT FOR THE INTENDED USE WAS FAVOURABLY ASSESSED 4.1. Manufacturing The ALICEM cement is manufactured by mixing of components as declared in 1.1. The sources of the constituents are deposited at Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment. The European technical approval is issued for the product on the basis of agreed data/information, deposited with Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment, which identifies the product that has been assessed and judged. Changes to the product or production process, which could result in this deposited data/information being incorrect, should be notified to Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment before the changes are introduced. Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment will decide whether or not such changes affect the approval and consequently the validity of the CE marking on the basis of the approval and if so whether further assessment or alterations to the approval shall be necessary Application The rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM is intended to be used for preparation of grouts, mortars and non structural concrete. 5 INDICATIONS TO THE MANUFACTURER 5.1. Packaging, transport, storage of the product In the production plant the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be stored in silos. Packaging, transport, storage of the rapid hardening calcium sulphoaluminate based cement ALICEM shall be the same as for common cements according to EN The manufacturer shall ensure that the requirements given in sections 1, 2 and 4 are made known to those involved.
