21 Building Site Characteristics Parking Site Security Urban Context Building Image Charity Hospital The building site has been fully developed. There is not a secure parking available on site for judicial officers, nor is general public parking facility on-site for litigants, visitors, and employees. The Charity Hospital building occupies the entire city block and the building structure is situated immediately adjacent to public right of ways. The existing circulation and building access and egress system features multiple entries on the street connected to a unique internal building circulation system The building is located amongst several hospitals and medical facilities in the hospital district. The historically significant art deco hospital building image signifies institutional architecture. Duncan Plaza The Duncan plaza site includes the plaza park and the parcels where the Supreme Court and the State Administrative Building used to be. The buildable footprint on the Duncan Plaza site sits immediately adjacent to LaSalle and Gravier Streets. Development on this site would likely have a minimal setback from the adjacent public right of ways. The site is located within the existing downtown Central Business District. N/A

22 Renovation & Utilization Feasibility Building Size Is there sufficient square footage available to accommodate the operational needs? Building Configuration Does the building s floor plate satisfy the design requirements of modern courthouse construction? Structural Spans - Does the existing structure grid have sufficient spacing between columns? The structural bay supporting a courtroom should have a minimum 32 clear span between columns. Floor Heights - Is the existing floor/ceiling height sufficient to meet the courtroom ceiling height requirement? Recommended ceiling heights are in the range between for standard trial courtroom. Building Infrastructure - Are elements such as the building exterior, windows, roof, HVAC, life safety systems and elevator systems in good repair and capable of functional operation in a repurposed court building?
