3 Duct Liner AP Armaflex SA Black Duct Liner is a patented* non-fibrous duct liner with an advanced, pressure sensitive adhesive system for non-pinned field applications. Mold resistant: Made with Microban antimicrobial product protection. Indoor Air Quality: Fiber-free, formaldehyde-free, low VOCs, non-particulating Smooth surface: Reduces dirt, wipes clean Plenum rated: Safe for institutional air ducts, meets NFPA standards Noise blocking and vibration dampening Description AP Armaflex SA Duct Liner / Wrap is a black, flexible elastomeric thermal insulation. Its closed-cell structure prevents condensation and moisture wicking, and makes it an efficient insulation. It is manufactured without the use of CFCs, HFCs or HCFCs. The Microban antimicrobial protection is registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in air ducts (EPA Reg. No ). It is added during manufacturing to provide an extra level of defense in the natural mold resistance of AP Armaflex. AP Armaflex SA Duct Liner is also effective for reducing HVAC noise. It is supplied in 36 x 48 sheets and in rolls 48 and 60 wide, in thicknesses up to 1. Uses and Applications AP Armaflex SA Black Duct Liner / Wrap is ideal for air handling systems, VAV units, ducts and other air system components requiring condensation control, resistance to moisture, damage or heat gain; or HVAC noise blocking or sound dampening. Application areas include schools, hospitals, hotels, commercial and public buildings. Installation Note: Must be installed according to Installation of Armaflex Insulations publication ( ). When air stream velocities exceed 4,000 FPM (20.3m/second), metal nosing should be applied to every leading edge. Nosing may be formed on ducts or be channeled or zee-attached by screws, rivets or welds. ALCOHOL The temperature of the air and of the insulation should be between 40 F (4 C) and 100 F (38 C) at the time of installation. Prepare surface by cleaning with appropriate cleaner. Measure. Approvals and Compliance Product approved through continuing supervision by Factory Mutual Approvals to provide consistent actual values for thermal conductivity, water vapor transmission and fire rating. AP Armaflex SA Black Duct Liner / Wrap also meets requirements of NFPA 90A and 90B for Duct Coverings and Linings, and UL 181 for Mold Growth. Approved for use in return air plenums, conforms to ASTM C 1534 requirements and withstands temperatures of 250. All AP Armaflex insulation meets requirements of International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE for R-Value 4.2 at 1 thickness. Cut with sharp knife. Peel back enough release liner to start. Square off sheet along an edge or corner. Press the sheet to the surface taking care not to trap any air. Application AP Armaflex Pipe Insulation in unslit tubular form can be slipped onto piping before it is connected, or it can be slit lengthwise and snapped over piping already connected. Fitting covers are fabricated from miter-cut tubular form. In all cases, butt joints and seams are to be sealed with one of our Armaflex adhesives: Armaflex 520, 520 Black or, where a low V.O.C. adhesive is required, 520 BLV. 520 Adhesives are contact adhesives; therefore, in all cases, both surfaces to be joined are coated with adhesive. For pipes greater than 6 IPS, use AP/Armaflex Sheet/Roll insulation. For thicknesses greater than 1, sleeve the insulation. See technical bulletin #030 for additional information. AP/Armaflex pipe insulation is available in 1-1/2 wall thicknesses with 25/50 rating for ID size range from 7/8 to 4 IPS. 15 ArmaTuff PLUS II Laminated Sheets & Rolls ArmaTuff PLUS II is the premiere Armacell Coating System for outdoor applications. It provides a tough-as-metal surface on Armaflex insulation for superior protection against ultraviolet radiation and punctures. Maintenance-free: UV- and damage resistant 16 mil laminate Resists wrinkling: Special multi-layer laminate maintains smooth surface Long-lasting protection: 10-year membrane limited warranty Flexible application: Available with or without PSA Colors: White or Siver (on a make-to-order basis) Installation Applying Non-Self Adhering ArmaTuff Plus II Description ArmaTuff PLUS II is Armaflex insulation with a 16 mil laminated covering membrane (a UV protective white or silver, blended polymeric top surface and a puncture-resistant blended polymeric base, around a scrim reinforced core). The membrane has a 10-year limited warranty against breakdown due to UV radiation. Armaflex is a mold-resistant flexible elastomeric thermal insulation. Its closed-cell structure prevents condensation and moisture wicking, and makes it an efficient insulation. It is manufactured without the use of CFCs, HFCs or HCFCs. It is available in 36 x 48 sheets (with or without pressure sensitive adhesive) and in rolls 48 wide (without PSA), in thicknesses up to 2. Uses and Applications ArmaTuff PLUS II is designed to be used for all exterior applications: Exterior ducts, tanks, vessels, large pipes and fittings. The laminate is resistant to UV, ozone, acid rain and most industrial pollutants. No painting is required. Application ArmaTuff Plus II is installed using Armaflex Adhesives or with pre-applied pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) for application to large, flat or curved metal surfaces such as ducts, vessels, very large pipes or tanks. The seams must be installed in compression and sealed with Armaflex Adhesives. Cover the seam with ArmaTuff Plus II Seal Tape. Armaflex 520 Adhesive is a contact adhesive: therefore it must be applied to both surfaces, allowed to get tacky, and the surfaces joined with pressure. Exterior duct work must be pitched to allow rain water to run off the insulation. ArmaTuff Plus II is designed for installation in above ground applications. Armaflex insulation products must be installed according to Installation of Armaflex Insulations brochure. Proper installation is required to assure Armaflex insulation performance. The application temperature should be above 40 F (+4 C) and 100 F (+38 C). 1. Always prepare surface by cleaning with denatured alcohol. 3. Roll thin coat of 520 Adhesive to insulation. 5. Apply ArmaTuff Plus II to top surface, overlapping the side pieces. 2. Insulate sides first. Apply thin, uniform coat of Armaflex 520 Adhesive. 4. Position carefully and apply ArmaTuff Plus II (White or Siver). Contact adhesive bonds instantly. 6. Seal and protect exposed edges and seams with ArmaTuff Plus II Seal Tape (White or Silver).
