3 The Foundation of Moisture Resistance PREMIUM BELOW-GRADE INSULATION Description R-Tech is an engineered rigid insulation consisting of a superior closed-cell, lightweight and resilient expanded polystyrene (EPS) with advanced polymeric laminate facers. R-Tech is available with factory adhered metallic-refl ective facers, white facers or a combination of the two. The core of R-Tech is the same high-quality EPS as our InsulGrade brand insulations and meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM C578, Type I, Standard Specifi cation for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation. In addition, R-Tech has excellent dimensional stability, compressive strength and water resistance properties. R-Tech is an ENERGY STAR qualifi ed insulation and can contribute toward LEED credits. Uses R-Tech has been used successfully for numerous commercial, industrial and residential applications, insulating the foundation wall or slab and protecting the waterproofi ng or damp proofi ng, especially during backfi lling. R-Tech can be ordered with the InsulSnap feature which scores the product longitudinally at any preordered interval (commonly 16" or 24" o.c.). The InsulSnap feature minimizes labor by enabling the installer to cleanly break the product at the desired width while also minimizing product breakage and waste. Insect and Mold Resistance. R-Tech is manufactured with an inert additive that deters termites and carpenter ants. R-Tech does not sustain mold and mildew growth. Water Resistance. R-Tech facers provide a surface that is virtually impervious to moisture. Jobsite Durability. With a polymeric facer on either side of it, R-Tech is extremely fl exible and durable. Stable R-value. The product s thermal properties will remain stable over its entire service life. There is no thermal drift, so the product is eligible for an Insulfoam 20-Year Thermal Performance Warranty. Cost Effective. R-Tech is typically less expensive than other comparable insulation products. Proven Performance. EPS has been manufactured using the same chemistry since the mid-1950s, providing proven performance. Enhanced R-values. In certain applications, increased R-values can be obtained by placing the metallic refl ective side of the R-Tech towards a dead air space. R-value gain is dependent on the amount of dead air space between the R-Tech and outer surface. R-value gains are based on the ASHRAE Handbook of Fundamentals. See the attached Effective R-value chart. Sizes R-Tech is available in 4' x 8' sheets with thicknesses from 3 /8"to 5" in 1 /8" increments. R-Tech can also be ordered with the InsulSnap feature which allows the end user to cleanly break the 4' x 8' sheets into any desired width. All of the R-Tech insulation products are available with metallic refl ective and InsulFoam white facers. Insulfoam, a division of Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated ( Insulfoam ) hereby warrants for a period of 20 years, commencing with the warranty effective date, that the R Tech thermal resistance (R value) will meet or exceed the values stated below. If the product is determined by sampling and tests (conducted as provided below) to not meet the warranty values stated below, Insulfoam will, in its sole discretion, either deliver to the Owner a quantity of equivalent Insulfoam product to replace the non performing Insulation or refund to the Owner the original purchase price of the non performing Insulation. Insulfoam s total liability over the life of this warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the insulation. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND SHALL NOT BE EXTENDED OR ALTERED EXCEPT BY WRITTEN INSTRUMENT SIGNED BY INSULFOAM. THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY. INSULFOAM SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS LIABILITY FOR ANY DIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR OTHER DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, INCREMENTAL HEATING, COOLING OR SIMILAR COSTS, LOSS OF PROFITS OR DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING OR ITS CONTENTS UNDER ANY THEORY OF LAW WHATSOEVER. Conditions. Insulfoam s obligations under this Warranty will only take effect if installed in strict accordance with all applicable Insulfoam specifications, recommendations and guidelines which were in effect at the time of installation. Originals or copies of invoices and bills showing the cost of the EPS Insulation shall be submitted along with any claims under this Warranty Agreement. Insulfoam s failure at any time to enforce any terms or conditions stated herein shall not be construed to be a waiver of its right to enforce that term or condition. Exclusions. This Warranty shall be void if, in Insulfoam s judgment, the R Tech s performance has been impaired by either damage or alterations (lacking prior Insulfoam written approval) to the product. Insulfoam does not warrant the compatibility of the R Tech with any other products including, but not limited to, any roofing or waterproofing membranes or coatings. SAMPLE COPY ONLY Insulation Testing. All sampling shall be conducted in accordance with sampling procedures prescribed by Insulfoam, and samples of the R Tech shall only be taken in the presence of an authorized Insulfoam representative. Testing of the R Tech samples shall be in accordance with ASTM Test Method C518 or the then closest Insulfoam approved effective equivalent test method. R Tech samples shall be conditioned to equilibrium prior to testing. All sampling and testing costs (including but not limited to costs of R Tech uncovering, removal and replacement) shall be at the Owner s sole expense. Thermal Values.
