5 Our Path to Innovation Xenoy* Resin is a Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT) based un-reinforced impact modified thermoplastic alloy. What we learned: First and foremost, the permeation requirements must be met, thus satisfying both CARB and EPA regulations. Beyond that, physical property performance is critical and careful attention to material, design and process play a key role in determining success. Application design and volumes drive the need for injection moldable as well as a blow moldable solutions. Success. Independent Application Review

Passes CARB TP-901 protocol. Potential to use existing tooling and equipment. Significantly below most stringent CARB and EPA specifications of 1.5 g/sq m/day. Xenoy resin measured.38 g/sq m/day. Cost avoidance: no fluorination or secondary operations required to attain low permeation. Current fuel tank materials (HDPE, PP) do NOT pass w/out barrier. Excellent balance of mechanical performance. Translucency...application/thickness dependant. Evaluation customers have successfully welded tanks via vibration, hot plate, ultrasonic processes. No cycle time loss vs. PE. No additives - no dispersion issues. No oligomers - issue w/impact modified polyamides. A One Step Material Solution

Potential benefits of Xenoy* resin Permeation consistency throughout part. Will pass CARB TP-901 protocol. Potential to use existing tooling and equipment. Targeted to meet the most stringent CARB and EPA specifications of 1.5 g/sq m/day. Cost Avoidance: no fluorination or secondary operations required to attain low permeation. Potential use of regrind Excellent thermal stability over 5 pass regrind study. Current fuel tank materials (HDPE, PP) do NOT pass w/out barrier. A One Step Material Solution Low/no capital investment avoids $2-5 million per multi-layer blow molding machine. Excellent balance of mechanical performance. Translucency...application/thickness dependant. Customers have reported excellent processability and parison strength and thickness control. No cycle time loss vs. PE. No additives - no dispersion issues. No oligomers - issue w/impact modified polyamides.
