4 MISSION The production of energy from the recovery of vegetal waste and other renewable sources derivates from eco-sustainable industrial and agricultural processes. The energetic conversion process tends always to use the best technological competences in order to assure the best plant efficiency, fully and unconditionally respecting all the rigid legislation for the environmental protection and for the employees safety. Our business model is based on the Company integration in the local economical and social system, for developing industrial and cultural synergies for the benefit of all stakeholders (shareholders, employees, suppliers, territory). 8 COMPANY Stakeholders structure api nòva energia is a company that belongs to the api Group, which in Italy is a leader in the petroleum field whose mission is to lead, with a unique direction and continuity, the management and the development of the electrical and gas business of the Group. In the last few years api, through api nova energia, has launched an energetic differentiation process, with the planning and carrying out important projects for the production of electrical energy, in particular from renewable sources such as eolic, fotovoltaic and biomass, as well as for the development of innovative Plants for the re-gasification of liquefied natural gases (LNG) and for the production of bio-fuel. The Bioenergie Group, with premises in Milan, through its operating Companies, is one of the biggest Italian operators in the production of energy from biomass. Other than participating in Biomasse Italia SpA, the Group is also owner of San Marco Bioenergie SpA that runs a biomass plant with the capacity of 20 electrical megawatts located in Bando D Argenta (FE). Bioenergie itself is a part of the North American Group PSEG, historically the source of power for the state of New Jersey, and, in the running of its own business, shares and promotes the values of integrity, social responsibility and the protection of the environment. 9 COMPANY Principal data productive structure: two power stations located at the local Plants of Crotone and Strongoli (KR); the total capacity of 60 MWe makes Biomasse Italia one of the biggest European Companies in the field of the production of electrical energy from only the combustion of Biomass; yearly production of about 500 GWh; about 100 millions euro represents the yearly turnover; about tons of biomass used; more than 100 millions euro invested in Plants, as well as tens of millions of euro engaged in working capital (tools and machinery, stocks). 19 HUMAN RESOURCES Employees: 92 persons at Strongoli (KR) and Crotone; university graduated personnel - 23%; high school diplomas- 58%; the Company has always ensured stability and continuity of work for our employees, with an occupational trend constantly growing; for its international vocation, the Company offers stimulating professional opportunities to personnel with a high growth potential. Collaboration with the University of Calabria Biomasse Italia is planning to present its training opportunities to all the students who are interested and to organize dedicated visits of the Company; it s also planning to collaborate in the research field with various Departments of the University according to Company s needs. 21 HUMAN RESOURCES Training programme BlueLab is a training programme which involves theoretical instruction, practical training, interaction with external professionals, internal free interaction and a structured evaluation of the differences between required competence and acquired skills; the Company invests constantly in the personnel training, making use also of foreign professionals and specialists; the training is concentrated on technical competences (environmental rules and related legislative frames, process analysis and improvement structural plans, risk management, economical financial analyses, methods of quality control, ethics and social responsibility, planning methods, specialist technical matters, plant maintenance) and on business administration (team working, creativity & innovation, change management, communication in Company, strategic thinking, foreign language courses). 22 DEVELOPMENT PLANS Our projects and the related investments involve: production technology; Plants and systems for reducing and controlling emissions into the atmosphere; technological training for the Plants personnel; the enforcement of the industrial partnership with primary local operators in external services; the support of research and development projects in the agroenergetic field; the enforcement of the necessary logistic infrastructures. 23 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Integration within the territory we integrate our business within the territory to promote local and regional development; we give priority to the local workforce in order to improve the local industrial system; we care about professional training for young people, whether they are our employees or potential components of the Company s team; we collaborate with Universities and Professional Schools for the selection of the most talented young people in relation to the professional opportunities at our Company. 24 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Integration within the territory Contribution to local employment a variety of local, national and international professionals collaborate constantly with the Company in the high profile activities; the Company ensures workplaces for qualified personnel coming from other local Companies that are in difficulty; the Company employed young people coming from professional schools; induced employment: some hundreds of workplaces in forestry Companies (for 450,000 tons of wood), port downloading activities personnel (for 300,000 tons of imported biomass), goods transportation personnel; maintenance Companies (for the operative management of the two Plants), general service Companies. Economic outcome on the territory some tens of millions of euro regarding supplies and services from local Companies; we stimulate the development of the port activities and of the related infrastructures in Crotone port; we stimulate our suppliers to make investments. 25 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Integration within the territory Agro-energetic supply chain we sustain the S.R.F (short rotation forestry) experimentation for the production of plants with a high growth speed for feeding the biomass power Plants; we sustain also the agricultural reconversion of currently non-productive lands, on the basis of the national energetic policy which will provide more and more incentives for local integrated supply chains.
