3 What is Energy Management? Energy Management is the process of monitoring, controlling, and conserving energy in buildings throughout the district.

Education Code LONG-RANGE ENERGY PLAN TO REDUCE CONSUMPTION OF ELECTRIC ENERGY Requires the board of trustees to establish a long-range energy plan A plan that reduces annual electric consumption by 5% House Bill 3693 Record, Report, and Display Consumption Data Mandate to record and report consumption usage for electricity, water, and natural gas on a publically accessible internet page (DISD Website) Who must comply with House Bill 3693? 7 What do we Monitor? The Energy Management Department monitors the usage of Electricity, Water and Natural Gas throughout the district: 23 Campuses 69 Buildings 53 Portables Over 2.4 million square feet 209 Electrical Meter Accounts 59 Water Meter Accounts 13 Natural Gas Accounts
8 Average yearly usage and costs 32.5 million kwh 46.5 million gallons of water 36 thousand CCF of Natural Gas Overall average cost $2.9 million
9 Donna ISD Staff Responsibilities Implement energy savings practices for classrooms and offices Implement 10 minute rule Classroom doors shall remain closed when the a/c is operating Turn off office equipment. Fax machines remain on All exhaust fans should be turned off daily During working hours all PC s should be programmed on energy saver mode. No screensavers permitted Ceiling fans should be operated in all occupied areas. Turned off at the end of the day Outside lighting shall be off during daylight hours Gym lights should be off when not in use Custodians will turn on lights only in the areas in which they are working Report all plumbing or roof leaks Only water the grounds between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. When watering, make sure you are watering the grounds and not the buildings, parking lots or sidewalks
