9 Southern: programming of measures Water Body Action Team (to include external stakeholders where appropriate) Action ID SE0199 SE0210 Action Description RBMP Actions Carry out investigative riverine and land based field work into the origins, causes and solutions to sedimentation. Outcome: Improve our understanding of problems, in order to take effective action to address them. Educate and raise awareness of the impact that small discharges to ground and surface water have on water quality of the receiving waters. Provide advice on maintenance of small treatment plants or advise residents of the need to connect to the mains sewer system. Outcome: All small discharges comply with the Water Framework Directive and other EC Directives. 10 Current activity South West Two year pilot project looking at soils & runoff in east Devon sent to 650 farmers in east Devon. Joint event with CLBA targeting large landowners. Catchment sensitive farming have been running maize demonstration events over the summer -video clips we have produced free of charge - one looking at link between soils, runoff & water quality & one providing a practical guide to examining soil structure.
11 Current activity North West Presentation on the WFD to Chemicals Northwest members in Runcorn on June 17th.. Asking Liaison Panel members to communicate within their sectors to identify what they can bring to the table.
12 Actions - Midlands Survey of coarse fish populations in the River Severn between Shrewsbury and Bewdley. Information sought from local anglers to help develop a shared picture of fish stocks. A new fish pass built at Calver Weir on the River Derwent - 165,000. Most of the agricultural work is now driven by WFD - Voluntary Initiative, ECSFDI, CfFE,
13 SDAGE defines 10 key policies for the RBD SAGE Sets out the local relevance and defines the necessary actions Seine-Normandie RBD [Pursue partnership approaches] Protect groundwater reduce diffuse pollution Reduction in toxic substances Restore surface water quality Maintain & protect drinking water supplies Improve the reliability and performance of works (?)
