2 LIFE Programme The LIFE Programme is the EU s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. It contributes to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects.

4 LIFE Programme in Greece Since the launch of the LIFE programme by the European Commission in 1992 and until 2016, a total of 239 projects have been co-financed with a Greek beneficiary as a Coordinator. The total investment of these projects amounts to 326 million, of which the EU's contribution is 174,5 million.
