TVO WELL-BEING FOR FINLAND Over 30 years of reliable Finnish electricity production. Annual production greater than 14 TWh. Sixth of electricity consumed in Finland. Approximately people work regularly in Olkiluoto, of which ca. 750 subcontractors. Ranks among world s top companies in nuclear waste management. Subsidiary TVO Nuclear Services Oy and jointly owned company Posiva Oy. Teollisuuden Voima Oyj 5

A PERIOD FOR MAJOR PROJECTS IN OLKILUOTO, OL1 and OL2 continuous improvement through modernization projects renewal of operating licence. Post Fukushima modifications OL3 building works completed and installation works on the final stretch, I&C engineering proceeding All aspects of nuclear waste management on one island. Operating waste repository 20 years. Extension of interim storage for spent fuel. Final disposal facility for spent fuel under preparation. Construction licence application for final disposal facility sent in 2012 and expected to be received in Teollisuuden Voima Oyj 11

BIG PROJECTS IN FUTURE EXCL. OL3 Plants safety development, Post- Fukushima Building of NF final disposal facilities Reactor thermal power uprate Renewal of reactor automation Prestudy under work OL1/OL2 modernization project Enlargement of NF interim storage (in operation) Teollisuuden Voima Oyj 13

SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS IN PIPELINE TVO has started several projects which improve plant s ability to survive simultaneous loss of all power sources. Cooling of reactor and fuel pools using firewater system. Improvement of reactor cooling system which is independent of seawater cooling. Increasing number of power supplies for prolonged needs by sourcing movable diesel generators and pumps. Safety improvement of spent fuel interim storage facility. Improvement of outdoor area drainage systems. Installation of oil spill prevention and response equipment in Olkiluoto neighbourhood. Teollisuuden Voima Oyj 15

CHALLENGES TO BE TACKLED Heavy support to renewable energy distorts the energy markets Poorly performing Emission Trading System Nuclear specific taxation is used competitiveness is suffering, new market based investments are not viable early shutdowns of technically well-functioning nuclear reactors (NOT Olkiluoto) Nuclear power sector needs improved cost efficiency, harmonisation and standardisation Use more standard industrial components in safety applications Improve security and safety more cost-efficiently Increase number of suppliers and competition, especially in aging management Transfer of knowledge to young generation => maintain good operational results Teollisuuden Voima Oyj 17
