2 INTRODUCTION Facility Summary Polycon manufactures automotive plastic fascia and energy absorbers for the automotive industry. Manufacturing processes include reaction injection molding (RIM), injection molding for TPO (thermoplastic olefin) parts, EPP (expanded polypropylene) foam molding, robotic painting and assembly. In the RIM molding process, isocyanate and polyol (raw materials), DETDA (diethyltoluenediamine) and IMR (catalyst containing, polymers, zinc stearate, and polypropylene glycol) are used to create plastic parts. After reaction injection molding, parts are trimmed and conveyed to the prime painting line. In the injection molding (IM) process, plastic pellets are molded into a variety of automotive parts. Parts are then trimmed and sent to the paint lines. Rejected, unpainted plastic parts are sent to the grinder and are reused in the process. In the EPP foam molding process, expanded polypropylene beads are moulded through steam injection into various parts. After molding, the parts are inspected and sent to the assembly area or packaged for shipment to customers. In the robotic paint process, Polycon operates three (3) paint lines, a prime line and two colour lines. Unpainted fascia are sent to the powerwash line, and then to a dry-off oven and a cool down tunnel. Parts are subsequently painted in the colour and clear coat spray booths. After molding and painting, parts are then assembled through robotic cell and manual assembly operations, packaged and shipped off-site. Polycon s Environmental Management System (EMS) has been certified to the ISO standard since September, Polycon is actively engaged in seeking environmentally sustainable opportunities, such as: Priority of zero waste to landfill Considering waste water reduction and reuse opportunities Reduction and reuse programs in place for scrap materials Electricity use reduction Natural gas use optimization and usage reduction program in place Page i

6 2.0 STATEMENT OF INTENT (FOR PARTICULATE MATTER) In accordance with Magna s Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Policy ( and Polycon s ISO Environmental Policy, we are committed to an operating philosophy based on fairness and concern for employees, customers and the communities in which we operate. Magna s objective as expressed in the HSE Policy is to be an industry leader in health, safety and environmental practices in all of our operations with the intention, through technological innovation and process efficiencies, to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment and to provide safe and healthful working conditions. In keeping with Magna s decentralized organizational structure, facilities are responsible for setting site specific objectives and targets under their ISO system and to meet the objectives within the Magna HSE Policy to: improve the efficient use of natural resources, including energy; minimize waste streams and emissions; and implement effective recycling programs in our manufacturing operations, through the use of locally set continuous improvement targets. With reference to the Ontario Toxics Reduction Act, the reduction objectives are outlined in Section 4 of this Plan Summary for the reportable substance Particulate Matter (PM2.5) at Polycon. Page 3

7 3.0 SUBSTANCES REQUIRING PLANS The following substance requires a plan Particulate Matter (PM2.5) - based on 2012 Toxics Reduction Act accounting information. 4.0 OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN & ANY TARGETS Magna International Inc. prides itself on technical innovation in order to produce high quality automotive components in an environmentally responsible manner. This plan documents the options available to Polycon to reduce the creation of Particulate Matter (PM2.5) at the facility. At this time, there are no specific targets for reduction, however, as is our standard practice, we will continue to meet regularly with our staff and look for opportunities to reduce our creation of Particulate Matter (PM2.5). 5.0 OPTIONS TO BE IMPLEMENTED (OR STATEMENT THAT NONE ARE TO BE IMPLEMENTED) Polycon s commitment to continuous improvement has resulted in an extraordinary lean and efficient manufacturing facility. The facility s continuous improvement measures, coupled with the acknowledgment that the customer provides the specifications for the raw materials processed at the site mean that there are no additional options for the facility to implement. 6.0 CONTENTS OF THIS PLAN SUMMARY REFLECTS THE PLAN This Plan Summary accurately reflects the Toxic Substance Reduction Plans dated November 3, 2015, prepared for the substances listed in Section 1.0 of this Summary.
