This study proposed a web system that allows the simultaneous participation of multiple evaluators in order to eliminate the weakness of existing analogue evaluation process which takes much time for the editing of evaluation form, the evaluation, and the analysis of results. The proposed system was designed by using HTML5, PHP, Javascript, and MySQL, and it creates and distributes the evaluation form and manages evaluation and the results. Once the evaluation is completed, the grades and comments are aggregated automatically and the results can be analyzed and distributed. Keywords: multiple evaluation, online evaluation, multi-user Participation, web system 1 Introduction Student evaluation by professor in a college usually takes the top-down system. However, this type of system has the weakness that it cannot give an objective evaluation for it reflects quite a subjective view of only one person. Currently, increasing number of colleges are using the 360 Degree Feedback System [1] which diversifies evaluators. Following this trend, the cases of presentation evaluation or team project are gradually increasing in college courses. For most evaluations, most evaluators perform 360 degree feedback using the evaluation form prepared in advance. However, using the analogue, paper evaluation form causes inconveniences to the evaluation manager who is considered as the general manager of the evaluation or the evaluation form maker and also the evaluated. This study designed a multi-user Participation Based Online Evaluation Management System focusing on the evaluation of college courses. By using this system which thoroughly reflected the characteristics of college courses, the professor who is the evaluation manager would save time on creating and distributing the evaluation form and on aggregating and analyzing the evaluation results, the evaluator would focus more on the evaluation itself, and the evaluated would receive fairer, more objective and detailed feedback. 2 2 Analysis of Similar Programs 2.1 X-MEN There is a program called X-Men [2] which supports a single type of evaluation among currently available web and mobile applications. X-MEN is a mobile application that helps the user to measure his or her physical strength, and it basically measures the physique, body fat, degree of obesity, and so on. However, it has a weakness that it only provides fragmentary results and is incapable of performing an evaluation on another item as the evaluation form cannot be edited according to the manager s needs and only the given items can be evaluated. 2.2 Online 360 Degree Feedback System by knsoft The Online 360 Degree Feedback System [3] by knsoft is an evaluation management system developed as an internal corporate organization system. This system allows the user to edit evaluation items according to evaluation subject and check the analysis of results. However, it does not allow the evaluation manager to participate in the evaluation process and also requires training before use that not everyone can conveniently use the system. 2.3 Online 360 Degree Feedback System by knsoft The preceding model of this system, Wired and Wireless Combined Class Evaluation System [4] allowed the user to create an evaluation form to perform an evaluation and also showed the evaluation progress of evaluators. However, it was impossible to check from the creation of the evaluation form to the analysis of results depending on the level of authority or check the comments, and the evaluator and the evaluated had to join the membership in order to check them. 3 Evaluation Management System Design 3.1 System Goal This system aims to save the time the evaluation manager spends in the course of performing a series of evaluations. Using the system, the evaluation manager can directly manage the project, the evaluation room, and the participants in each evaluation room and decide the level of authority for the participant to evaluator or the evaluated. The evaluation manager can also create an evaluation form and 180 Copyright 2016 SERSC

3 distribute it to evaluators and distribute the result of the automatic aggregation and analysis of the evaluations made by evaluators. Also, it is convenient for the evaluator to perform an evaluation by comparing the grades of the evaluated for he or she can instantly check the total grades automatically calculated during the evaluation. Finally, the evaluated can check the grades and also the detailed results and comments to clearly recognize his or her status. 3.2 System Overview The web system proposed in this study comprises the user, project, evaluation room, evaluation form, evaluation item, the evaluated, evaluation result, evaluator, and address book as in [Fig.1]. First, a number of users are registered to the system through membership. Each user can create and manage a number of projects, and a number of evaluation rooms can be created in each project depending on the type of evaluation. In each evaluation room, the user can create an evaluation form by specifying the number of evaluation items, the number of the evaluated, team evaluation, and whether the form is for a team or an individual. For the evaluation form created, the user can register the evaluated, item name, grade for each item, and evaluation period. Each evaluation room has an address book for each evaluation room, and the user does not have to add participants one by one but can add the participants by importing them directly from the address book. The address book created for each evaluation room is then used to add the evaluated to the evaluation form. After the evaluation form is completed, each evaluation form is ed to evaluators. Evaluators can perform the evaluation only within the specified period. When evaluators complete the evaluation, each evaluation result is automatically aggregated in the result page for each evaluation room. Fig. 1. System Flow Copyright 2016 SERSC 181

4 3.3 Configuration of Overall System This system was designed with HTML5, javascript, PHP, and My-SQL. HTML5 and javascript were used on the client s side and PHP and My-SQL were used on the sever s side. The user who directly uses the system is usually the evaluation manager and evaluator. The evaluation manager communicates with the web server using his or her account and is given the authority to manage his or her project, evaluation room, and evaluation form. The evaluation manager can also send the evaluation form created to evaluators through SMTP mail server. The evaluated can access the grading form through the link to the evaluation sheet sent to the and identify himself or herself with his or her address to grade. The grading results will be saved to DB and the results analyzed through calculation can be checked in the evaluation manager s web system. [Fig.2] shows the entire system configuration. Fig. 2. Evaluation Result Management Interface 4 Conclusion The multiple user participation based evaluation management web system, Add-it, will help the evaluation manager, the professor, to manage evaluation sheet and project, the evaluator to grade and give comments, and the evaluated to check the results by automating the evaluation process for college courses that the offline evaluation system took a long time. Expected effects are as follows; it would increase the convenience in the evaluation where a number of evaluator participate through shortened and automated evaluation 182 Copyright 2016 SERSC

5 process, it would promote the implementation of the 360 degree feedback within the college enabling more specific evaluation, it would make it easier for the evaluated, the students, to check their strengths and weaknesses by showing the average and rank when analyzing the result, it would secure the objectivity through the evaluation by multiple evaluators, it would provide fair evaluation through the appropriate aggregation of the results using the system, and finally the opinions of many people can be used as the reference for evaluation in other important fields. The system will evolve into the direction of letting them manage the information about the project they participated in or showing the statistics of previous evaluations in graphs.
