8 Traditional Test Program Approach Freedom of Test Customer requests a test. Test specification may be little more than best coverage. Developer has little or no interaction with customer. Delivery is what developer defines to be a good test. Customer Specified Customer supplies a test specification. Developer has interaction with customer to resolve test issues. Delivery meets or exceeds customer specification. Traditional program development typically falls somewhere between the two extremes!

9 Product Cycle Approach Product Design NPI Product Support Engage customer while still in design stages. Work with design and manufacturing engineers to design test process and develop specification. Perform DFT (Design for Test) Analysis. Provide test for prototypes. Develop test programs and interface fixtures. Deliver tests which meet specifications. Install tests at CM (Contract Manufacturer). Train CM on program operation. Provide change support. Monitor production and provide process improvement feedback.
