1 Do What You re Find Your Right Job Introduction Congratulations! You re on your way to finding a satisfying job. This report is based on twenty-five years of ground-breaking research and helps people find the most satisfying jobs, based on their personality type. Why is it important to know your Personality Type? Because that knowledge can help you quickly identify which jobs will best use your natural strengths and be the most satisfying. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses. When your work lets you use your strengths say working with numbers then you enjoy it and do it well. But if your work requires you to do things that don t come naturally to you such as standing up in front of people and making a speech then you won t enjoy it as much or do it as well. Your four-letter Personality Type is ISFJ, which stands for Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, Judging. Your type is about 7-10 percent of the merican population. This report is all about you! It will help you understand what you need in a career for it to be satisfying, identify several specific jobs that might be right for you and help you conduct the most successful job search. bout Your Personality Type s you read this description, it should sound a lot like you. But every person is an individual, so it won t sound exactly like you. If you re not sure if this really is your type, ask someone who knows you well to read it and get their opinion. If both of you don t think it is accurate, you may need to take the assessment again. ISFJs have a strong need to belong, and the friends they choose to be with are lucky to attract these thoughtful, devoted people. ISFJs focus their energies on the problems or issues right in front of them. They are very accurate with facts, pay attention to details, and do things step-by-step. ISFJs like gathering practical information and enjoy keeping track of the results. In general, they have excellent memories and are especially good at remembering dates and events relating to the people they care about. Generally quiet and reserved, ISFJs are loyal and devoted family members and friends. They take their responsibilities toward other people seriously. Good listeners, they are eager to help people in practical ways. Because ISFJs don t like conflict or confrontation with others, they usually try hard to get along with everyone. ISFJ s may sometimes have trouble imagining brand new possibilities. In problem solving, they are much more comfortable using knowledge based on experience, rather
2 than trying a new approach. ISFJs are very focused on the present. They trust the lessons of the past, and when they look to the future, they may feel nervous about new things they have not experienced before. For relaxation, ISFJs often prefer down-to-earth activities, such as cooking, gardening, painting, or making things with their hands. While they enjoy the company of close friends, they are also comfortable spending time alone. ISFJs tend to dislike surprises and are most comfortable in familiar surroundings, enjoying activities they planned. They like to get their work done before relaxing and are most comfortable when they can stick to a predictable routine. When it comes to holidays and other special events, ISFJs love to organize them well in advance and pay careful attention to all the details. Below is a list of common strengths for people of your type. Some items on this list will fit you better than others. Try to identify the five strengths that are most true for you. This exercise will help you in two ways: to identify jobs that that uses your strengths, and to be able to tell future employers what you have to offer them. Your work-related strengths what you probably do well: Great concentration on the task in front of you Strong work ethic; you re responsible and hardworking Good cooperation skills; you create good relationships with others practical, realistic attitude ttention to detail Love of helping others; you are supportive of co-workers Strength at maintaining organization s traditions Strong ability to keep things organized Excellence at managing step-by-step procedures or tasks Strong sense of responsibility - you do what you say you will do Below is a list of common weaknesses for people of your type. Some items on this list will fit you better than others. Try to identify the five weaknesses that are most true for you. This exercise will help you in two ways: to identify things that don t come naturally to you that you need to work on, and to help you avoid repeating the same mistakes. Your work-related weaknesses may include: Tendency to think too little about your abilities or contributions Reluctance to embrace brand new ideas Being overly sensitive to criticism Desire to focus on the present rather than future possibilities Tendency to take on too much Difficulty changing from one role to the next quickly Discomfort with too many projects or tasks at the same time Not standing up for yourself as much as you should Tendency to be discouraged if you no longer feel appreciated Difficulty changing your mind once you have reached a decision
3 Below is a list of Career Satisfiers those things which you need in a job for it to be most satisfying. Try to identify the top five that are most true for you. This exercise will help you compare different jobs to see which will be a better-fit. What you need in a career for it to be satisfying. Doing work that: 1. Requires careful observation and accuracy, where you can use your ability to remember facts and details 2. Lets you work on projects that help others, that require great attention to detail 3. Lets you express your caring and devotion by working hard behind the scenes 4. Is done in a traditional, stable environment, where the results are practical and real 5. Requires that you follow standard procedures, use common sense, and follow through 6. Lets you focus all your energy on one project or one person at a time 7. Gives you a private work space so you can concentrate fully with few interruptions 8. Lets you work primarily one-on-one, helping others, or alongside others who share your values 9. Requires you to be organized and efficient 10. Does not require that you often present your work in front of groups without having lots of time to prepare in advance Some satisfying jobs for ISFJs: Below is a list of several jobs that might be a good fit for many ISFJs. But you will enjoy a job a lot more if it involves something you re personally interested in. Try to identify at least five jobs that you d like to learn more about. 6 How to conduct a successful job search You will be most successful in the job search if you use your strengths. Here is a list of things that you can do to build on these strengths: 1. Research opportunities carefully, collecting all important facts. 2. Make thoughtful decisions based upon practical considerations (how much time will I want to do this or that task, will I be okay with that commute...) 3. Conduct an organized, well-planned job search. 4. Take advantage of your good work experience. Everyone has weaknesses. Here are some things you can do to overcome weaknesses that are common in many ISFJs: 1. Look for and consider possibilities that do not currently exist like a new job in an organization that would make them happier 2. Be more aggressive in planning and implementing your job search. 3. Don t be afraid to show your enthusiasm and great skills relating to people 4. Try to be objective don t allow your personal feelings alone to determine important decisions. 5. Try not to take rejection personally or get discouraged. The Secret to Success Using your strengths is easy. The secret to success for an ISFJ is learning to: Speak up, consider possibilities that don t already exist, and try to be more flexible and spontaneous.
