5 Identifying Stakeholder It is the process of identifying the people, groups, or organizations that could impact or be impacted by a decision, activity, or outcome of the project, analyzing and documenting relevant information regarding their interests, involvement, interdependencies, influence, and potential impact on project success. The key benefit of this process is that is allows the project manager to identify the appropriate focus for each stakeholder or group of stakeholders.

7 Conduct Stakeholder Analysis This task covers the identification of stakeholders who may be affected by a proposed initiative or who share a common business need, identifying appropriate stakeholders for the project or project phase, and determining stakeholder influence and/or authority regarding the approval of project deliverables. 8 Who is a Stakeholder? Stakeholders are people or organizations that (directly or indirectly) influence the requirements of a system. Examples of stakeholders are users of the system, operators of the system, developers, architects, customers, and testers.

11 Onion Diagram An onion diagram indicating how involved the stakeholder is with the solution (which stakeholders will directly interact with the solution or participate in a business process, which are part of the larger organization, and which are outside the organization)

13 Stakeholder Wheel The wheel identifies the range of stakeholder groups and adds structure to the process of identifying them. It may include Owners Managers Employees Regulators Supplies Partners Customers Competitors
14 RACI Matrix The RACI matrix describes the roles of those involved in business analysis activities. It describes stakeholders as having one or more of the following responsibilities for a given task or deliverable: [R]esponsible does the work, [A]ccountable is the decision maker (only one) [C]onsulted must be consulted prior to the work and gives input [I]nformed means that they must be notified of the outcome

20 Types of Processes Primary Process An operational process that constitutes the core business of a firm and is part of its primary value chain. Secondary Process A non-operational process that is not part of the core business of a firm but supports the primary processes. Management Process The processes that govern the operation of a system.

26 CRUD Matrix Once the main elements of functionality and categories of data have been identified, it is useful to develop a matrix, cross referencing these to each other and showing the specific interactions between them. This matrix is often referred to as a CRUD matrix, due to its coverage of Create Read Update Delete actions. It can be a very powerful tool for the Business Analyst, because it will allow for a rigorous investigation of the relationships between the processes and data within a system, without the need to drill down using more detailed techniques, or to document these dynamic interactions with more precise modelling methods.
