1 CAREER SERVICES ANNUAL GOALS & S REPORT The Career Services Goals & Objectives Report includes the Career Services mission statement, methodology, outcome types, goals and objectives, implementation plan and programming for The goals and objectives align with the Student Affairs Strategic Planning Objectives and support the Cal Poly Strategic Decisions. MISSION STATEMENT The mission statement of Career Services is to assist students in exploring, formulating and implementing career plans. Career Services establishes and advances collaborative partnerships between the university community and employers. METHODOLOGY Two Strategic Planning meetings are scheduled during Spring Quarter to review the Career Services mission statement and evaluate programs, services, events and activities. From this meeting, staff is encouraged to brainstorm new ideas, and effective ways of working together as a team. Goals and objectives are established and programming is determined for the new academic year. Summer Quarter is used for planning and preparation, followed by a Fall Planning Retreat to reaffirm the mission, goals, objectives, plans and priorities for the new year. OUTCOME TYPES There are three types of outcomes identified and assessed in this report: 1. Learning Outcomes - Learning outcomes illustrate actual student learning that occurs, assessing cognitive abilities. Learning outcomes will be assessed through student surveys, employer surveys, testing, focus groups, self-reflection, and external evaluators. 2. Developmental Outcomes Developmental outcomes illustrate personal development, assessing attitudes, values and ethics. Developmental outcomes will be assessed through student surveys, focus groups, self-reflection and other means of evaluation. 3. Program Outcomes - Program outcomes focus on accomplishments, measurable or quantifiable results of Career Services programming. Program outcomes will be assessed through program review, event debriefings, constituent feedback, focus groups, staff discussions, and/or quantitative data. GOALS/S The Career Services goals and objectives are aligned with the Student Affairs Strategic Planning Objectives and support the Cal Poly s Strategic Decisions.
2 CAREER SERVICES ANNUAL GOALS & S REPORT Section 1: ACCESSIBILITY COMPREHENSIVE POLYTECHNIC EDUCATIONAL EPERIENCE ACCESSIBILITY Assist all students in knowing how, when, and where to access services they need. Career Services Goal 1: STUDENT OUTREACH Career Services will assist students in accessing services. 1A. ACCESSIBILITY STUDENT CONNECTIONS 1B. ACCESSIBILITY STUDENT INFORMATION Career Services will connect with students, advising them of programs and services that are designed to meet their career-related needs. Career Services Orientation Overviews Classroom Presentations Club Presentations First Year Outreach Initiative Student Orientation Programs WOW, SOAR, Open House Career Services will ensure that the how, when, and where of program and services are clearly delineated in the Career Services homepage and student handouts. TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Career Services will explore integrating new management system modules to better serve students. Student Appointments Module KIOSK Card Swipe Module 2B. Career Services Goal 3: RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT Career Services will participate in the development of a Residential Campus Plan. 3A. RESIDENTIAL CAMPUS DEVELOPMENT Career Services will support the Residential Campus Plan and develop programs and services that better support a 24/7 residential campus environment.
