Sample Performance Review Associate with Production Goals Excelling I consistently exceed my numbers. My goal is to process 85 claims per day with 98% accuracy. For this quarter, I averaged 92 claims per day with 99% accuracy. I was also a member of the One CoreSource client onboarding implementation special project team. Also, this past quarter I followed through on the recommendations you made to get ready for a supervisor role. I completed the trainings without issue and have been participating in some cross-functional projects, like the client onboarding implementation team mentioned above. You told me to focus more on the big picture. That hasn t always been easy, but I enjoy it. I agree, you are doing great work. You should continue to grow to be a leader on our team. I want you to know that I value your work and appreciate your drive to go beyond expectations and experiment with new tasks. I am pleased with your participation in the management development training. I know parts are natural and other concepts may be difficult to grasp right now. The skills of working strategically understanding how our department s performance impacts business results and looking for opportunities to improve processes that are consistent with our strategy (as you ve done with the cross-functional team work) will be essential skills when you re ready to make the move to a supervisor role. It is great that you are getting exposure to them so early on. 2. List your top priorities for the next quarter. I know that I have to keep my numbers up. I don t anticipate any issues with that. I d also like to find another special project team to join in another department, so I can learn more about how other teams processes work. I want to keep growing and by the end of the year I definitely want to apply for an open supervisor position when it is available. I m not sure what I need to do between now and then, but that is my number one priority: moving up. You consistently deliver high quality work and are focused on delivering value to our customers. When you identify opportunities to improve processes, you bring them to my attention along with ideas for solutions. Keep dropping by my cube when you have questions or ideas to share. In your performance review, let s talk about what additional steps you can take to prepare yourself to possibly move into a supervisory role when one becomes available. Excelling 1
4. Explain your selection. Your work is consistently above expectations. You go beyond what is asked and are already participating in some pre-supervisor activities. Keep up the great work. 2
Sample Performance Review Associate with Production Goals Performing In our monthly 1-on-1s you see that I consistently meet my production goals. I m meeting the goal of processing 85 claims per day with 98% accuracy. Last quarter I worked very closely with one of our large clients and their HR person assisting them with processing issues and appeals. I have also been implementing new client groups and handling their claims for the first several months. Your strengths are that you embrace ongoing changes to your work assignments by being willing to attend meetings, test, and process claims for our new clients. You also drive for results by attending to your very detail-oriented client on a daily basis 2. For next quarter, what performance objectives are your top priorities? Same as usual meet my production goals. I will continue to handle issues and appeals as they arise, and implement new clients as they come on board. Agreed. Keep up the great work and keep dropping by my cube when you have questions I am always happy to provide more support or direction. Performing 4. Explain your selection. You consistently hit all production goals each month. I appreciate all of your contributions. Here s to another great quarter! 3
Sample Performance Review Associate with Production Goals Struggling I am doing well and met most of my production goals. I had one bad month of processing issues and appeals, where my turnaround time was 4 days, which is longer than the 2-day expectation. My claims processing quality also slipped a bit, down to 96% vs. the expected standard of 98%. As I get more proficient at implementing new client groups, I can focus more on issues and appeals and claims, and get back on track. In our meeting, let s go over your issues and appeals reports. In our previous 1-on-1s we have talked about the impact that implementing new client groups might have on your ability to keep up with issues and appeals. You have consistently demonstrated that you work hard to deliver value to our customers and provide high quality service. Learning how to process issues and appeals more efficiently may stretch your functional competence. During your performance review, let s focus on which processes are most difficult for you, identify the areas in which you might have skill gaps, and develop some goals to increase your competence in those areas. 2. For next quarter, what performance objectives are your top priorities? Same as usual meet my production goals. As I mentioned earlier, let s focus on improving your turnaround time with processing issues and appeals this quarter. If you can get more proficient in that area, I think it will help you have more time to focus on new client implementations and claims processing. You are consistent in the other areas we track. However, I know this one has been more difficult for you. I expect you to meet the numbers in all areas and be able to do it consistently. I m here to help you be successful. Let s use our performance review meeting to discuss some approaches that may help. Struggling 4. Explain your selection. Consistently hitting all production goals is required. Issues and appeals have been inconsistent recently, and your quality also slipped this past month. We will focus on those this quarter to get you where you need to be. I am confident you can get there. 4
Sample Performance Review Associate with Production Goals Developing Considering I am coming up on five months in the job this week, I feel I am doing well. I averaged 79 claims per day with 98% accuracy. I realize I m below the expectation of 85 claims per day, but my accuracy is where it needs to be and I feel like I m learning a lot. If I get a little faster at processing claims, I believe I can get there by next quarter. In addition, we had a high volume of issues and appeals this month. We were also busy with client onboarding. I m enjoying the work, but the hardest part has been learning to juggle everything! The move from strictly processing claims to adding appeals and client onboarding can be pretty big. While you already have a firm grasp on the claims processing part of the role, there are a lot of new processes and skills to learn to do your best work. I applaud you for embracing this change. You took a risk by moving to this team. You have maintained a positive outlook, even when you were challenged by learning some of the new skills. You re coming up on 5 months in the job and you are getting better each month. By next quarter you should have all of your numbers up to expectations. If you have concerns with that timeline, let s discuss at the performance review to create a plan that you re comfortable with and gets your numbers up to where they need to be. In the meantime, let s plan to have more frequent 1-on-1s. These conversations will be a chance to provide more coaching and feedback about how to increase your functional competence of conducting issues and appeals root cause analysis, which will help improve your efficiency at handling that part of your job. 2. For next quarter, what performance objectives are your top priorities? Same as usual meet my production goals. I agree. I d like you to focus on identifying root causes of issues and given the outcomes, come up with ways to reprioritize your workload. You know the basics, but developing these skills will be critical to you consistently meeting your goals. Spending time developing these skills now will set you up for long term success in this role. Developing 4. Explain your selection. 5
As I mentioned earlier, you re still new to this job so it is to be expected there is a learning curve. You have already made great progress and will continue to do so. Let s plan for you to be meeting your goals next quarter and change this rating to Performing. 6
