2 WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PLAN The Facilities and Services Division () and Planning and Performance Measurement Division () are committed to providing a workplace that is safe and healthy for all staff, students, contractors and visitors. and have updated the Workplace Health and Safety Improvement Plan. For the successful implementation of the Workplace Health and Safety Improvement Plan is dependent upon the commitment of all staff. Purpose The aim of Workplace Health and Safety Improvement Plan is to address the identified workplace health and safety risks for, and. This plan outlines the strategies for minimising our risks to ensure a safe workplace for all. 5 Goal 1 Work Health & Safety is to effectively communicate WHS matters with workgroups Action Required Division Responsibility Monitor and review the Division s Workplace Health and Safety Improvement Plan for. are to: Actively participate and attend meetings. Action items and report on progress. Report feedback from work group safety discussions. are to work with functional managers to implement a culture of safe working practices. Communicate updates from WHS Meetings to functional managers and work groups including incident reporting statistics. Consult with their workgroups regarding safety discussions and improvements. Maintain records of work group discussions relating to WHS. Incidents count by Mechanism for Unknown, Body Stressing and Slips, Trips Falls appear high. WHS committee is to form a focus group to work with Work Environment Group to analyse data and recommend actions. 6 Goal 2 Review, promote and improve Work Health and Safety (WHS) workplace performance. Action Required Division Responsibility Action (person/s) Due Complete Review and improve Supervisor and WHS Member Workplace Inspection processes to achieve improved information and time efficiency. Updates are to be reported to the WHS at each meeting. Inspection templates for specific workplaces are to be created for use in iauditor. Supervisors are to ensure their workplaces are inspected and forward completed inspections by May of each year. inspection is to occur in October of each year. Managers,, Human Resources Continue to promote the benefits of pro-actively reporting both WHS incidents and near misses through HORUS, with an emphasis on inputting quality information. Injury Management Branch, Human Resources and WHS Chair Managers Review, monitor and, as required, adjust risk assessment processes in order to continuously improve. Safe Work Method Statements / Plant Risk Assessment and Management Summary and Work Orders etc. Managers, including Remote Sites Managers Review the Division s Risk Register. Senior Management Team Senior Management Team Continue to provide WHS support to the Remote Sites ensuring compliance with the ANU OHS Policy and Procedures. Associate Director Operations, Site Managers Operations Representative Develop a suite of toolbox talk themes in conjunction with Work Environment Group. Investigate existing resources and Schedule appropriately through the year. Identify gaps in WHS content and organise updates to occur. 7 Goal 3 Ensure continued Work Health and Safety training and education for staff. Action Required Division Responsibility Action (person/s) Due Complete All ANU employees supervising staff and / or contractors must complete the Pulse module Comcare Work Health and Safety for Managers. This should be monitored through the PDR Process All Portfolios, (HR reporting) Immediate Supervisors Review mandatory work health and safety training requirements for all roles. Ensure new and existing staff attend training and all training is updated on the work group s training matrix. All Portfolios, Project Officer (WHS) - reporting Immediate Supervisors & All Staff ANU Staff WHS responsibilities and training will be discussed in detail with Direct supervisor in the staff Performance Development Reviews (PDR s). Managers, Supervisors All Staff As per HR procedure N/A Ensure all contractors engaged by the division are adhering to ANU S requirements for Safe Work Practice. Form a focus group to investigate and consider options for improving the following: Tracking contractor participation on Contractor online induction (ELMO) Contractor incident reporting Sign in /out sheets to access managed Buildings Ensure contractors have WHS management Systems in place as stated.
