Positions Supervised: None Prepared By: Southeast Technical Institute Human Resources Staff Approved By Name/Dept: Vice President of Academic Affairs Prepared By July, 2018 Approved By July, 2018 POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for the evaluation, design, development, and deployment of technology in support of the teaching and learning goals and objectives of the Southeast Technical Institute Academic Affairs Department. This position requires directly partnering with and supporting faculty, as well as working closely with administration and multiple departments to advance the teaching and learning outcomes of academic technologies. This position supports third-party software used for Southeast Technical Institute s evaluation and accreditation activities. 1

Essential Functions Statement(s): Provide leadership with regard to educational technology, including pedagogical strategies to optimize the impact of tools and systems. Evaluate existing and proposed educational technology solutions for their impact on strategic goals for student learning and achievement. Stay informed of developments in academic applications of technology and develop programs around them. Serve as primary academic representative for the Campus Technology Committee to elicit/provide feedback for campus technology and policy improvements. Partners with stakeholders, including Information Technology and Institutional Research, to gather academic technology needs and determine integration standards. Collaborate with Information Technology to identify parameters of Southeast Technical Institute s IT infrastructure and enterprise learning management systems/applications that coordinate with academic technology needs and improvements. Maintain currency in department-specific program trends at the regional and national level. Collaborate with faculty to grow and sustain high performing academic technologies, and update programs as needed. Identify, recommend, and mentor qualified instructors. Develop recommendations for academic technology standards and platforms. Assist, as needed, with budgeting. Lead and assist with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation and program reviews by optimizing the third party software database programs used in data decision making. Provide technical training and support for academic technologies that include the Learning Management System (LMS), database and cloud systems, video capture, Course Creator, survey tools, and locked browser applications. 3 SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: Terminal degree is preferred; a Master s degree with at least eighteen (18) hours in the field of Instructional Technology preferred, or a Master s degree with at least eighteen (18) hours in Education or Technology required. Experience: Must have at least five years of professional work experience required, including a minimum of three years of related experience in academic/educational technology leadership. Proven track record of delivering highly customer-focused support services to faculty in higher education. Operational planning experience; demonstrated experience and success in aligning technology investments, and services with academic priorities. Demonstrated ability to design, develop, implement, and operate information technology services that are responsive to changing needs. Prior teaching experience required. Computer/Technology Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of higher education technology, learned as a provider of technology support services in a secondary or post-secondary setting. Fluency with higher education computing technologies. Technical skills sufficient to evaluate, recommend, and support the use of academic technologies, that includes experience and understanding of heterogeneous technology environments as well as mobile computing and cloud-based services and providers. Experience with developing and managing digital content. Experience with managing business metric evaluation software. Experience with learning management systems. Ability to communicate technology concepts and services to faculty and staff. Fully functional with online communication tools (instant messaging, live chat, forums, s). Ability to understand and utilize technology for online/blended instruction with a focus on instructional field. Ability to conduct Internet research and enter data in related software tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet navigation, and management system software. Certificates & Licenses None Other Requirements Supervisory experience or evidence of leadership qualities. Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material. Experience in organizing and writing presentations of a technical nature. WORK ENVIRONMENT General office environment with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment due to staff/student conversations and office equipment. Additional equipment associated with ancillary instruction may be available and may have effect on lighting, sound, and temperature. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions when traveling to other locations. Some location visitations may not be climate controlled and are subject to a variety of temperatures that could include coldness, humidity, and higher heat levels than office environment standards.
