Goal 1: Design KPI 1: % of signatories with documented policies and procedures for evaluating and procuring packaging using the SPGs or equivalent. Comments Great job on reviewing existing packaging and identifying new opportunities to reduce environmental burdens. It is great to see you are reporting on specific improvements and tracking progress over time. To pursue best practice in this area, you may want to consider Educating marketers and decision-makers within your organisation about the importance of packaging sustainability using the Sustainable Packaging Toolkit, available here: Goal 2: Recycling KPI : % signatories applying on-site recovery systems for used packaging. 1. Do you have on-site recovery systems for recycling used packaging? at all facilities/ sites at some, but not all facilities/ sites 16. Please indicate your progress this year towards achieving your annual targets and milestones for KPI Waste PE coated board is now able to be recycled through are normal waste stream following tender process with new waste disposal company. Waste PE coated material is now recycled and not sent to landfill resulting in 6.1 Ton less to landfill. 2. Introduction of a wet strength board required by a Customer for the production of beverage cartons initially sent to landfill. Investigated waste stream segregation and source a recycler. Wet strength board is segregated in in a dedicated compactor and sent to for recycle. Prevention of Tons of waste to landfill on 201 figures.
. Consider all waste streams and determine the on site recovery for all product and packaging waste. Waste collected is paper board, paper, plastic and corrugated board from raw material packaging, reel cores, reel bungs (plastic and wood chip), waste plastic straps, stretch wrap, pallet corners, pallet lids, metal drums, glue buckets, printing plates, printing cylinders, ink cartridges, printer cartridges, printing blankets, corrugated outers, printing blankets, PE board, wet strength board, general rubbish, pallets (local and export) and pallet dividers. All waste paper and paper board including PE coated board, wet strength board, corrugated board from raw material packaging, pallet corners, pallet lids, corrugated outers and administration waste paper are collected in compactors and collected by a licensed contractor and taken to a recycling facility. (Documentation from waste contractor is supplied with destinations and weights). Reel cores, plastic reel bungs, metal drums, used printing plates and spent ink cartridges are palletised and collected by waste contractor and sent to recycling facility. Waste plastic wrap is baled, palletised and collected by waste contractor and sent to recycling facility. Printing cylinders, printing blankets, glue buckets and locally used pallet dividers are reused. Locally used pallets are reused (CHEP/LOSCAM). Import pallets are reused by ANZPAC or collected by a third party who uses them in for transporting their product. Printer cartridges are recycled. General waste is collected and sent to landfill. % landfill 9% 17. Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI Finally we are able to recycle PE coated board which endured a lot of work through persistent negotiations. Goal 2: Recycling KPI : % signatories applying on-site recovery systems for used packaging. Comments Well done, your responses in this section are very thorough and you are clearly committed to recycling and the diversion of waste from landfill. To improve further, you may find it valuable to consider ways in which you can expand your recycling systems to include other waste streams, and set specific targets to improve the quantity of recycling already undertaken.

Provide details of policies and procedures (including names of policies/ procedures) POL12 ANZPAC Services Green Procurement and Sustainable Practises Policy. 6 Controlled documented policy (ENV16.2 Buy Recycled Policy) in ANZPAC's Document Management System. The Buy Recycled Policy is available to all personnel in hard copy and electronic form. The policy is communicated to personnel via ANZPAC Environmental Awareness training. The training also refers to ANZPAC's APC plan, and the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. Reviewed recycled content of raw materials and packaging materials from major suppliers. DIC Inks and Varnishes - "The 200lt drums we supply inks and varnishes in are 100% recycled. The pails are new / non recycled, however, we have asked the supplier for possible recycle content of the steel. Pail supplier - It would be hard for me to answer your question honestly. However, tinplate is 100% recyclable material". "We source tinplate from many places around the world. With metal recycling such a large business all around the world any tinplate we purchase would carry a component of recycled product. Metsa Board - "In cores we have 70-9 % recycled material (Fibres in core board). In end discs we have 2% recycled material (Test liner in two layers of corrugated board). Plastic wrapping for both reels and pallets is made from virgin material. Bungs would be virgin wood chips, compressed." Iggesund Paperboard - Wrapping paper: 0 % recycled Plastic film: 0% recycled. Plugs: 20% recycled. Cores: 90% recycled. Ream wrapping: 0% recycled. Wooden pallets: 0% recycled. Kleannara board is made from 100% recycled material. Hansol Board is made from 88.% recycled material. All employees competently completed the training in 201 and refresher training being conducted in The training has provided personnel with knowledge in regards to legal and other requirements, purchasing policies, the importance of recycling/reuse and saving our resources. The training explains the year APC plan and how ANZPAC intends to contribute to the reduction of packaging waste and the focus on Design, Recycling & Product Stewardship to meet our targets. The training also explains the importance to work within the guidelines of the (SPG) Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. Employees are becoming more and more aware of their environmental responsibilities and are providing suggestions for improvements like the reuse of plastic buckets, recycling of printer cartridges and reuse of wooden pallets by third party organisations. 2 Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI Some Customers require a PE coated board which we could not recycle the waste component from our manufacturing process. Negotiations with a new waste contractor now allows the board to be recycled saving 6.1 tons of waste to landfill per year.
Goal 2: Recycling KPI : Signatories implement formal policy of buying packaging made from recycled products. Comments Great job on the multiple initiatives listed above, including active communication and conducting training to raise your employees' awareness around the procurement of recycled packaging. To support further improvement, consider setting specific targets for increasing the proportion of procurement which includes recycled content. Goal : Product Stewardship KPI 6: % signatories with formal processes to work collaboratively on packaging design and / or recycling. 22. Does your company have formal processes in place for collaborating with other companies or organisations on improved packaging designs and/or recycling which aims to reduce or eliminate waste? Elimination of cardboard pallet corners for all beverage products (7,90 corners used in 201) weight per corner = 1g x 7,90 = 1,20.7kg reduction in cardboard material. Supply Chain conduct regular review meetings (normally monthly for Australia suppliers and annually for overseas suppliers). 2. Describe any constraints or opportunities that affected performance under this KPI
Goal : Product Stewardship KPI 6: % signatories with formal processes to work collaboratively on packaging design and / or recycling.
