8 Rokset Industries Buy Recycled Policy February 22 nd 2011 All buyers are to be aware that Rokset Industries Pty Ltd has established a Buy Recycled Policy. Therefore if and when possible any product either finished goods or packaging should contain a proportion of recycled material. In some cases such as plastic paint trays the proportion can be as high as 100% However this policy must not result in the lowering of the quality of the end product, therefore the following procedure must be followed: 1. Establish with supplier if any recycled materials are or can be used in the item. 2. Discuss the inclusion of recycled materials with the Product Development Committee that will asses any effects this will have on the end product. 3. If required obtain samples for evaluation. 4. Complete a Product Change Notification form if required.
9 Rokset Industries Packaging Guidelines March 31 st 2010 After researching the Packaging Covenant Guidelines, Trade Practices Guidelines and Environmental Packaging Standards Rokset Industries has established the following guidelines to be used when developing new packaging: 1. On brush keepers, roller bags, 110mm 10pk boxes, 110 and 160mm cardboard wraps as part of cleaning directions: Reuse packaging to store (The remaining words will be adapted to specific product as normal) 2. On all cardboard wraps, boxes, counter display/cutaway boxes, brush keepers, paper inserts: This packaging is recyclable. Please dispose of thoughtfully 3. On all cardboard header cards with non-recyclable plastic bags: The cardboard portion of this packaging is recyclable. Please dispose of thoughtfully 4. On non-recyclable plastic bags and plastic boxes: Please dispose of this packaging thoughtfully 5. On Rokset items where space is available, the following should prefix above items 2, 3 and 4: Rokset cares for the environment. At this stage Rokset will not be using the packaging covenant logo on its packaging as it is not widely known and it is a full colour gradient logo which will add significantly to printing costs. We are not required to use the logo by the covenant. Rokset Industries will use the logo and make a statement on our website and perhaps on catalogues that we are a signatory to the covenant and Rokset cares about the environment. Rokset Industries is aware of the guidelines for using the 3 arrows recycling logo (mobius loop). As per the trade practices guidelines and the packaging standards document (AS/NZS ISO 14021:2000 Environmental labels and declarations). This advises us that we can only use the mobius loop on products or packaging which is recyclable or made from recycled content. The standard also says environmental claims need to be specific, i.e. we cannot use only the mobius loop on a cardboard box, as this may indicate the contents are recyclable when only the box is. Therefore the explanatory statement the cardboard portion of this product is recyclable is required along with the use of the logo.
