Your Presenter Tom Taylor Partner Technology Strategist, Microsoft
Agenda Planning Enhancements Time Line Visualization Assembly Management Item Availability
Planning Enhancements
Planning Enhancement Item Setup Differences
Business Value of Planning Enhancement Dampener on item/sku Optimizes supply handling cost by minimizing order changes. Splitting reorder cycle Provides a more precise setup for optimizing the inventory profile. Respect planning parameters for exception warnings Reduces the time spent on processing and changing the planning result.
Additional Planning Setup Options Reorder Cycle has been split into multiple fields, making it possible to have different values for: 1. Lot Accumulation Period: Demands that are due within the reorder cycle are grouped together to make a joint supply order, used by Lot-for-Lot. 2. Rescheduling Period: Used to determine if the action message should reschedule an existing order or cancel it and create a new order, used by Lot-for-Lot. 3. Time Bucket: Period used by the reorder point to define how often inventory level is checked. 4. Dampener Period: The dampener period applies to an item and can never be higher than the value in the item's Reorder Cycle field.
Additional Planning Setup Options Supply date Lot Accumulation Period Rescheduling Period Rescheduling Period Planning start date Time Bucket Time Bucket Time Bucket Dampener Period

Timeline Visualization
The Timeline helps you understand and optimize your inventory profile with its unique visual projection of future supply, demand and planning data
Timeline Usage Eduardo - Production Planner Analyzes the planning setup and cost of inventory. Understands the planning suggestions. Modifies and optimizes for special situations. Susan - Order Processor Needs to know What can I sell and when? Reviews normal order size and frequency. Alicia - Purchasing Agent Manually creates planning suggestions based on inventory level. Ellen - Warehouse Manager Monitors the expected warehouse load.
Analyzing the Planning Setup and Cost of Inventory The same item with 4 different planning setups Maximum Qty. Fixed Reorder Qty. Cost of inventory is displayed in the shaded area Lot-for-Lot High Cost Order. High Cost Mediu m Cost Low Cost
Understanding the Planning Suggestions 4 Days The first planning line covers Supply for the two Sales Orders in the Lot Accumulation Period of 4 days.
Modify and Optimize for Special Situations Optimize inventory with Auto Adjust Supply. Create new supply in the timeline when needed. Modify Date and Qty. using drag and drop Modify the data and save when satisfied.
Workflow Change Change DEMAND SUPPLY PLAN PLAN
Assembly Management
Assembly Managment is combining: Raw materials to create a finished good Finished, sellable goods in a kit
Assembly What s the attraction? An appealing inventory stocking strategy due to: Inventory Reduction Sellable items are stocked in a generic state as long as possible while item sets are not stocked at all. Customizations and assembling can be postponed until after a customer order is received. Customer Service Last minute customer requirements can be accommodated. Pre-assembled promotional kits can be shipped out quickly. Special price options and services can be offered through a kit.
What s the ideal target business? Any business that has simple conversion processes that do not require complex setup and maintenance and resists investing in more resource-demanding production modules.
Customers for Assembly Light manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers that: Use a production process that is a part of regular warehouse operations. Require that the work and labor involved in producing a final assembly be relatively short and consist of very few simple operations. Manage the conversion process through a one-entry-point interface, with minimum setup effort, by employees with no university degrees in production engineering, and for an affordable price.
Non-Customers for Assembly Manufacturers that: Use multi-stage production processes. Require specialized activities at each work operation, and long production lead times that result in WIP. Assemble versions of BOMs. Have a need for capacity load optimization and control.
Item Availabilty by Event
Item Availability by Event Item Availability by Event provides the user with an improved overview of changes in demand and supply for a specific item or SKU: For improved overview, the page only displays the dates when figures change because of an event, such as a sales order or purchase order. You can filter the Item Availability by Event page to also include forecasted figures and planning suggestions. With the tree view, the user gets direct access to the underlying data of each displayed period, enabling greater control. Shows the impact of your plan before you create supply orders, using data from the Planning and Requisition Worksheet. The overview is improved, compared to the current Item Availability by Period view.
Item Availability by Period Compared to by Event By Period By Event
Item Availability by Period Compared to by Event By Period Shows all periods, with or without changes. Opens a new page to see details for one line. Does not include Planning suggestions. By Event Shows only periods with changes, an improved better overview. Provides a tree view of expandable lines, so you can view details on the same page. Can include planning options, showing item availability after completed planning.
