CLEAR, VISUAL COMMUNICATION TO THE RIGHT PERSON, AT THE RIGHT TIME, AT THE RIGHT LOCATION.
Problem: Forklift-pedestrian collisions & forklift accidents Pedestrians at the loading dock can t see, or often hear, forklifts inside trailers. Forklift drivers have restricted views in trailers. When two forklifts service one trailer, also known as interleaving, the operators can't see when the trailer is safe to enter, which also slows productivity. Each year in the United States, approximately 100 workers are killed and another 20,000 are seriously injured in forklift-related incidents.** Problem: Obstructed view when entering the trailer Catastrophic accidents can occur if the trailer is not properly secured to the dock. While Dok-Loks help prevent all types of trailer separation accidents, clear communication is also critical to safety, and the view of the control box can be obstructed for a variety of reasons, including: Forklift mast blocks the forklift operators view. Objects, such as a garbage can or stacks of pallets, could block the lights on the control box. Control box location is not in the forklift operator's line-of-sight, so it gets overlooked. Too many other control boxes or signs clutter the wall. Problem: Obstructed view when exiting the trailer Once forklift operators enter the trailer, they have no way of knowing the restraint status - or if it was mistakenly unhooked. Forklift operators have a very limited view of the dock area from inside the trailer, similar to tunnel vision. Trailers are often dark, which decreases visibility when backing out. **Photo Caption Source: Preventing Injuries and Deaths of Workers who Operate or Work Near Forklifts, National Institute For Occupational Safety and health, NIOSH Alert, Publication No ; June 2001.
Corner-Vu Pedestrian-Vu Leveler-Vu RITE-VU Three individual products. One complete safety system.
Solution: Pedestrian-Vu Visually communicates to pedestrians if a forklift is inside the trailer, helping to prevent forklift-pedestrian collisions and increase productivity. Amber lights located on either side of the dock door frame at eye level. Turns on when lift truck enters the trailer and notifies pedestrians and other forklift drivers that the trailer is in use. Turns off when the forklift exits the trailer. Pedestrian-Vu also alerts forklift operators inside the trailer if the Dok-Lok is inadvertently unlocked. Sounds a loud alarm inside the trailer. Switches the Dok-Lok light signals on the exterior of the dock to red, telling the truck driver it is unsafe to depart. Solution: Corner-Vu Provides immediate Dok-Lok status-at-a-glance to the forklift operator before entering a trailer. Lights are located on each side of the upper corners of the interior dock door. Mirrors the status of the inside light on the Dok-Lok control box. Pedestrian-Vu provides clear, immediate visual notification to pedestrians and other forklift operators if a forklift is inside a trailer. Solution: Leveler-Vu Confirms the Dok-Lok status to the forklift operator while inside the trailer. Provides a reference point for backing the forklift out of the trailer. Mirrors the status of the inside light on the Dok-Lok control box.
Dock safety Time to shed some light on the subject Rite-Vu Light Communication System from Rite-Hite Because what you can t see...can hurt you Our world is a visual world. Most of our cues for traffic flow, directions and movement are drawn from lights, instead of words and sounds. Clear visual communication makes travel safer. And now it's making loading docks safer with the Rite-Vu Light Communication System. Rite-Hite introduced the Dok-Lok in 1980, creating the vehicle restraint industry and continually improving as the industry changes. Now Rite-Hite offers the Rite-Vu Light Communication System, which enhances Dok-Lok communication with line-of-sight notification. It is the first visual warning system to address the dangers at the loading dock. The second leading cause of forklift-related fatalities is workers struck on foot.* Pedestrians and drivers at a loading dock are constantly moving, with limited visibility and with no clear, concise, visual warnings. Rite-Vu is a complete detection and visual management warning system. It includes Pedestrian-Vu, Corner-Vu and Leveler-Vu available together or separately. Rite-Vu provides pedestrians with status at a glance visual warnings if a forklift is servicing a trailer, while providing drivers with clear safe to enter or exit visual warnings of trailers secured to the dock with Dok-Loks. In short, Rite-Vu creates a safer, more efficient, more productive environment. *Source: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) report
Pedestrian-Vu Infrared (IR) transmitter has dual IR LEDs and maximum range of 60 feet. Receiver unit has integrated horn for audible alert for fork truck operator in trailer and IR indicator light for verification of signal reception. Low voltage 12VDC LED lights. One replaceable LED bulb per light fixture. One 18 long, non-electronic, light emitting element per fixture. Light emitting elements are constructed of clear acrylic, are individually replaceable and can be rotated for optimal viewing angle and to minimize light pollution. Virtual Filament Technology Allows for significantly fewer LEDs per light while providing a vibrant light emitting element. Corner-Vu Low voltage 12VDC LED lights. One replaceable, dual color LED bulb per light fixture. Two 18 long non-electronic light emitting elements with virtual filaments per fixture. Light emitting elements are constructed of clear acrylic, are individually replaceable and can be rotated for optimal viewing angle and to minimize light pollution. Illuminating surfaces have no electrical components. Individual light parts are replaceable. Provides directional light, minimizing light pollution. Can be rotated for optimal viewing angle. Leveler-Vu Low voltage 12VDC LED lights. Mounts to leveler by sliding into Rite-Hite standard weatherseal channel. Fully epoxy sealed for damp environment. Lights are below surface of stored leveler for non-direct contact of fork truck traffic. Warranty When the Rite-Vu product(s) is ordered with a Dok-Lok vehicle restraint, the Rite-Vu warranty will follow the corresponding Dok-Lok s warranty. If not ordered with a Dok-Lok, one-year parts and labor warranty from the date of shipment. All warranties are subject to standard limitations on liability.
