C&S Wholesale Grocers GDSN Initiative November 8, WorldSync & C&S
Agenda C&S Wholesale Grocers (C&S) - GDSN Initiative Overview Current Challenges GDSN Goals Attribute Requirements Measurements Overview GDSN & 1WorldSync Overview Next Steps for Suppliers Resources Q&A 2
C&S Wholesale Grocers (C&S) Lead supply chain company in the food industry and the largest wholesale grocery supply company in the United States Serving 6,500 retailers, chain stores and institutions C&S procures customers with over 140,000 different high-quality, lowcost goods and products, sourced from more than 50 high-tech facilities Investing in high-tech, full automation in facilities to optimize warehouse and distribution capacity 4
Current State/Challenges Our high-tech distribution facilities rely on accurate logistical data in order to continuously deliver cost savings, service, and value to our customers Current product information processes are based on Manual collection of product information Manual entry of product information into C&S s back-end system Manual processes are inefficient and prone to human and data errors which can lead to an inefficient supply chain and increased product costs Accurate dimensions are critical to maximizing the benefits of our high-tech, automated distribution centers 5
C&S Joins GDSN C&S adopted GS1 Standards & GDSN to: Speak the same global language of business as other industry members Obtain accurate and complete logistical product information Supports lower material handling cost and optimize logistics Receive product updates in real time Reduce manual data collection and re-entry Introduce and move new item information faster and efficiently C&S GDSN Initiative includes all C&S subsidiaries including Grocers Supply Company Note: This initiative does not replace but complements the C&S new item or vendor portal processes. 5
C&S GDSN Goal Phase 1: Receive product information via the GDSN from our current suppliers Review for completeness and accuracy, reducing errors caused by current manual entry processes Phase 2: Integrate GDSN sourced product information into C&S backend systems To support our facilities with a fully automated system for case storage, selection, de-palletizing and palletizing of customer orders 7
How GDSN and Data Synchronization Works The GDSN is built around the GS1 Global Registry and GDSN-certified data pools Ensures the supplier and customer are looking at the same accurate information Supplier enters the information only once in the data pool they subscribe to, for all its GDSN customers Supplier / Manufacturer C&S 1. Load Data 2. Register Data 3. Subscription Request 4. Publish Data 5. Recipient Confirmation 8
OUR MISSION & PURPOSE To be the Trusted Global Source of Authentic Product Content for Businesses and Consumers Bring Simplicity & Efficiency Distribute & Deliver Empower People 9
Global Reach Global Support Solution 25K 40m+ 98% 60+ Global Companies Product Transaction Exchanges of Fortune 500 Countries
