3 Introduction Simple Barcode Inventory is a Magento Extension designed to easily update product stock levels using a barcode reader. As a prerequiresite, product barcodes must be stored in a magento attribute (if you are using Embedded ERP, the module will use the same barcode management method). Then, reading a barcode, you'll be able to easily increase, decrease or manually change the stock level. Installation 1. Upload all extension files on your server 2. Refresh magento cache 3. Logout and login again from the admin panel 4. Go in system > configuration > Simple barcode inventory to configure the extension (see next chapter) Barcode reader configuration There is nothing to configure in magento to make the barcode reader works with this extension : as soon as it is working with your computer, it will work with the extension. A basic test can make sure that everything is ok : Open notepad Scan a barcode You should see the barcode digits on one line, and a new empty line 3 / 6

4 Note : if you get strange characters (for example : "é'(-è"é'è-'è_çàà), it probably means that you must enable the caps lock on your keyboard Configuration To configure the extension, select menu System > Configuration > Simple Barcode Inventory Note : if you get a "Access denied message", it means that you have not logged out from admin panel after installation : do it know and come back to the configuration screen. Setting Description Product barcode attribute Select here the magento attribute that contains the product barcode. If you are using embedded ERP, select any entry, ERP will override the barcode management. Default mode This extension support 3 modes when you scan a barcode : Increase : when you scan a barcode, product stock level is automatically increased (+1) Decrease : when you scan a barcode, product stock level is automatically decreased (-1) Manual : when you scan a barcode, product information are displayed and you can manually change the stock level Save mode Defines when stock changes are applied : Manual : require you to click on save button after all the products are scanned Immediate : stock levels are automatically saved when you applied them Note : immediate mode is more safe, but it will cause delay between to product scan 4 / 6

5 Once the settings are configured, click on the save button. How to use To display the main screen, select menu Catalog > Barcode inventory : At the top right corner are displayed the different modes (the default mode set in configuration is automatically selected) : Increase : when you scan a barcode, product stock level is automatically increased (+1) Decrease : when you scan a barcode, product stock level is automatically decreased (-1) Manual : when you scan a barcode, product information are displayed and you can manually change the stock level Then, scan the first barcode : If barcode is unknown, an error message is displayed If barcode is known : o if selected mode is "Decrease" or "Increase", the stock level is updated and displayed in the history area (at the bottom) o If mode is manual, product information are displayed, and you can change the stock level. Once the value is correct, click on the "Commit" button 5 / 6

6 If you have selected the "immediate" save mode in configuration, each time you apply a stock changes, it is saved in magento. If you have selected the "manual" save mode, once all stocks are changed, you must click on the "save" button to save changes in magento. 6 / 6
