4 Delayed Coking Auto-Switch Cutting/Boring Tool The innovative DeltaValve auto-switch coke cutting tool provides a high level of safety during de-coking operations by allowing the tool to remain in the drum during switching of cutting/boring modes. The auto-switch tool, in combination with the DeltaValve drill stem guide enclosure and the DeltaGuard top unheading device, provide maximum coker safety on the top unheading deck by removing personnel from the top head environment. Performance of the cutting nozzles are optimized for each pump pressure and drum diameter combination. Flow channels in the auto-switch tool are optimized to provide maximum cutting and boring forces at the nozzles jets. Switching is accomplished by remotely reducing the pressure to the tool and then restoring the pressure. The cutting/ boring modes are distinguished by different steady state pressures displayed at the operator s panel and by a visual indicator on the tool itself. In addition to the internal process screen, all internal mechanisms are isolated from exposure to cutting water and coke fines for long-term reliability. No field lubrication is required facilitating maintenance free operation. Drill string connections are available in Flange-Lok, Unibolt, RTJ, and engineered to order. The auto-switch tool has successfully been tested for pressures up to 4500 psi and designed for up to 5500 psi. 2

7 Delayed Coking Drill String Connections The auto-switch tool can be connected to the drill string with one of the various flange connection styles below. The style of flange connection is specified by the customer at time of order. The flange connection style on an existing tool can be upgraded by replacing the top housing. 8 Delayed Coking Complimentary Products Top Unheading Device Used in conjunction with the auto-switch tool, the DeltaValve coke drum top unheading device and blowout diverter/drill stem guide create an inherently safe work environment by removing operators from the cutting deck. The combination of these three pieces of the equipment create a fully automated coke-drum top unheading system. Blowout Diverter/Drill Stem Guide The blowout diverter/drill stem guide is designed to protect personnel and equipment by directing expulsions from a coke drum eruption, up and away from the cutting deck. The built-in drill stem guide is designed to guide and stabilize the drill stem during coke cutting and boring modes. 6

9 DeltaValve Additional Specialized Equipment for the Delayed Coker Bottom Unheading Systems DeltaGuard GV810, GV815, GV820 Permanently connects to the bottom flange of the coke-drum, creating a totally enclosed system from the coke-drum to the discharge pit. With the push of a single button from a remote location, safe and reliable unheading can be achieved. The DeltaGuard is inherently safe, easy to operate, and designed to be maintenance free from turnaround to turnaround. Isolation Valves and Controls Reliable, low maintenance, tight shut-off isolation valves designed for extreme temperatures and harsh applications provide for a quick efficient in-line removal of all internal components. Steam purge ports are capable of operating continuously in the partially open (throttling) position, while isolating body internals from the process. Available with a complete suite of electric and hydraulic actuator options and complete PLC based Isolation valve control systems with safety interlocks and sequence controls. DeltaGlide Designed to facilitate installation of the DeltaGuard bottom unheading system, and support the device during coking cycles. Also maintains alignment of valve components during maintenance and inspection. Transition Spool Designed to incorporate a permanent side inlet feed connection and create a permanent connection between the DeltaGuard bottom unheading device and the coke-drum.
