1 IAQG Acronyms April 17, 2012 AAB AAQG AB AIA APAQG AQAP AQMS ARC ASA ASD ASD-EASE Auditor Authentication Board - One of the organizations involved in the ICOP 9100 system - this group evaluates the qualifications of the auditors that CBs want to use to compete 9100 series audits Americas Aerospace Quality Group - the Americas Sector Includes Canada, U.S. and Central and South America - members of the IAQG Accreditation Body - Another of the organizations which are involved in the ICOP 9100 scheme - these organizations are responsible to assure that the CBs meet the requirements of the 9100 system. The ABs are overseen by the IAQG OPMT (see below) Aerospace Industry Association An organization of American manufacturers of aerospace products which represents the interests of the aerospace industry to U.S. government officials web site: Asia-Pacific Aerospace Quality Group the Asian sector of the IAQG Includes companies from China, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, South Korea and Indonesia. Allied Quality Assurance Publication - AQAP stands for Allied Quality Assurance Publication and is NATO s standardization document that describes the demands regarding military supplies system. Aerospace Quality Management System Aerospace Quality Management System - A quality management system based upon ISO 9001 that includes additional aviation, space, and defense requirements, as established in IAQG standards 9100, 9110, and 9120 Authorized Release Certificate & Authorised Release Certificate (also known as an Airworthiness Approval Tag) is a Form used in civil aviation that identifies the conformity determination for a part or group of parts or for return to service after maintenance or alteration Aviation Supplier Association: The Aviation Suppliers Association (ASA), based in Washington, D.C., is a not-for-profit association, representing more than 440 global member companies that are positively shaping the aviation industry. Aerospace and Defense Industry Association of Europe The AeroSpace and Defense Industries Association of Europe, ASD, represents the aeronautics, space, defense and security industries in Europe in all matters of common interest with the objective of promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector. ASD pursues joint industry actions which require to be dealt with on a European level or which concern issues of an agreed transnational nature, and generates common industry positions One of the three organizations which sponsor the IAQG along with SAE and SJAC. ASD-European Aerospace Supplier Evaluation A subcommittee of ASD - EAQG-EASE purpose is to: Share best practices on Supplier Control activities to improve participants Companies capability (saving costs) by learning from each other (exchange information, ideas and experience) Maintain "integrated" database (2nd and Other Party data linked with participants Companies supplier data) Exchange information on remaining 2nd Party activities Distribute Alert message in case of "unsafe" suppliers

Civil Aviation Authorities a term which describes the governmental body in various countries which govern the aviation industry in that country. The CAA in Europe is an organization of those national bodies which meet to strive for uniformity among the organizations in regulatory matters, etc. Civil Aviation Regulatory and Safety Committee A subcommittee of the AIA this organization is the overarching committee for addressing issues with the civil aviation airworthiness and certification regulatory framework and industry-wide civil aviation safety issues for airplanes, rotorcraft, and engines. Coordination Agency Supplier Evaluation A Nonprofit Coalition of Industrial Companies dedicated to: Exchanging and Publishing Non-Prejudicial Supplier Data. Reducing the Proliferation of Redundant Supplier Assessments. Reducing Supplier Management Costs. CASE is Governed by a Statement of Principles and Bylaws, Our Goal is to Provide Data with which you can make informed supplier approval decisions. CB CBMC CRB CSR DCMA DGAC DIS EASA Certification Body Organizations under the ICOP scheme (see below) who have been approved by the ICOP system to perform 9100 series audits. A list of all approved CBs can be found on the OASIS data base. Certification Body Management Committee The organization in the CB which is responsible to manage their company s activities and assure that the CB remains compliant to the rules such that the company remains accredited by the ICOP scheme. Certification Registration Body Another name for a CB. Corporate Social Responsibility: A term which refers to a form of corporate selfregulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a built-in, selfregulating mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. Defense Contract Management Agency - DCMA is the Department of Defense (DoD) component that works directly with Defense suppliers to help ensure that DoD, Federal, and allied government supplies and services are delivered on time, at projected cost, and meet all performance requirements Direction Generale des l Aviation Civile The Directorate General for Civil Aviation[1] (French: Direction Générale de l'aviation Civile, DGAC) is the French civil aviation authority. It is headquartered in 15th arrondissement of Paris of Paris, 50, rue Henry- Farman.[2][3] It is subordinate to the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing. (need link) Draft International Standard An proposed international standard which is being worked on by one of the international committees, but has not yet been fully approved for distribution. European Aviation Safety Agency European Union agency which provides a common initiative to keep air transport safe and sustainable, allowing for growth and improved safety. The European Aviation Safety Agency promotes the highest common standards of safety and environmental protection in civil aviation in Europe and worldwide. It is the centrepiece of a new regulatory system which provides for a single European market in the aviation industry.

European Cooperation for Space Standardisation The European Cooperation for Space Standardizationis an initiative established to develop a coherent,single set of user-friendly standards for usein all European space activities. Federal Aviation Administration The U.S. agency charged with overseeing and controlling civil aircraft and operations in the US First Article Inspection A Quality Control technique which performs inspections on characteristics and engineering requirements of the first part manufactured which represents the production process. Oftentimes this is 100% inspection of all features and characteristics. Final Draft International Standard Just what is says Strategy Focus Stream Leader A leadership position in the IAQG organisation the individual who is the Leader of the Strategy Stream Groupement des Industries Francaises Aeronautiques et Spatiales : GIFAS, the French aerospace industries association, has more than 260 members, from major prime contractors and system suppliers to small specialist companies. They cover the full spectrum of skills from the design, development and production of aerospace systems and equipment to maintenance and operation. Activities extend from civil and military aircraft and helicopters to engines, missiles and armament, satellites and launch vehicles, plus aerospace, defence and security major systems, equipment, subassemblies and associated software. International Accreditation Forum: The IAF is the world association of Conformity Assessment Accreditation Bodies and other bodies interested in conformity assessment in the fields of management systems, products, services, personnel and other similar programmes of conformity assessment. Its primary function is to develop a single worldwide program of conformity assessment which reduces risk for business and its customers by assuring them that accredited certificates may be relied upon. Accreditation assures users of the competence and impartiality of the body accredited. International Automotive Task Force: The IATF is an "ad hoc" group of automotive manufacturers and their respective trade associations, formed to provide improved quality products to automotive customers worldwide. International Aerospace Quality Group: The IAQG is a cooperative global organization that brings aviation, space and defense companies together to deliver more value at all levels of the supply chain. International Civil Aviation Organisation: A specialized agency of the United Nations, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) was created in 1944 to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world. It sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection. The Organization serves as the forum for cooperation in all fields of civil aviation among its 191 Member States. Industry Controlled Other Party Certification Scheme: The IAQG Other Party Management Team (OPMT) is a global, industry-controlled, oversight committee chartered to manage the Industry-Controlled Other Party (ICOP) process for certification of organizations to the 9100 series of AQMS standards. IAQG Document Representative Standards issued by the IAQG are recorded in the IAQG Standards Register. Each IAQG Standard has an IAQG Document Representative (IDR) and a Sector Document Representative (SDR). The IDR is the person charges with managing the

International Production and Airworthiness Committee IP&A is the group of civil regulatory authorities (like FAA AIR200, EASA, etc.) working together - linked to our Civil Production relationship strategy International Standard: A standard which applies to the international community International Organization for Standardization: The organization that produced ISO 9000 series of standards upon which the IAQG has based its similar series of quality standards. Organization for determining standards in most technical and nontechnical fields. Founded in Geneva in 1947, its membership includes more than 100 countries. An appropriate national body represents each country; for example, the U.S. member is the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Standardization affects units of measurement, alphabetization and transliteration, and specifications for parts, materials, surfaces, processes, tools, methods of testing, and machines. The ISO publishes the results of its work as International Standards (IS). ISO standards are optimally reviewed every five years. Read more: Joint Aviation Authority: An associated body of the European Civil Aviation Conference representing the civil aviation regulatory authorities of a number of European states. Japanese Registrar Management Body: The organization in the SJAC which regulates the registrars in the APAQG OPMT. Key Performance Indicator: performance indicator or key performance indicator (KPI) is an industry jargon for a type of performance measurement.[1] KPIs are commonly used by an organization to evaluate its success or the success of a particular activity in which it is engaged. In the IAQG the Operations Mangament team has KPI s for each standard. Luftfahrtbundesamt: The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA, "Federal Aviation Office") is the national civil aviation authority of Germany headquartered in Braunschweig (Brunswick). Material Review Board: A cross-functional group that reviews production or purchased items on hold due to usability concerns and determines their disposition, which may include rework, scrap, or returning to the vendor. In the aerospace industry normally each OEM has a (MRB) which makes disposition on non conforming product usually accept as is; repair; or scrap. Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Maintenance, repair, and operations[1] (MRO) or maintenance, repair, and overhaul[2] involves fixing any sort of mechanical, plumbing or electrical device should it become out of order or broken (known as repair, unscheduled or casualty maintenance). It also includes performing routine actions which keep the device in working order (known as scheduled maintenance) or prevent trouble from arising (preventive maintenance).: In the aerospace industry there are facilities which are established worldwide to provide these services for aerospace products they are normally approved by a national authority to be authorized to perform these services. National Accreditation Body: need definition Formerly the National Aerospace and Defence Contractor Accreditation Program, Nadcap is now an acronym for the aerospace process of special process accreditations which is managed for the aerospace industry by the Performance Review Institute a company located in Warrendale, Pennsylvania. The majority of IAQG member companies support he NADCAP process. North Atlantic Treaty Organization: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO

NATO's headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium, one of the 28 member states across North America and Europe, the newest of which, Albania and Croatia, joined in April Online Aerospace Supplier Information System: The System established by the IAQG OPMT to track registrations to various IAQG standards and accredited organizations and individuals operating within the scheme. Original Equipment Manufacturer: the term used in the aerospace industry to represent those organizations who have the design and manufacturing responsibility to produce equipotent and products which are used in the aerospace industry. These companies normally arte the initial company who produces a product and holds some type of certification from a governmental authority to design and manufacture the products. Other Party Management Team - the organization within the IAQG who is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of the entire ICOP scheme the OPMT consists of representatives from the RMCS from all three Sectors - Europe, the Americas, and Europe On Time and on Quality Delivery: the term used to describe the delivery of products and services which fully meet the customers expectations regarding the level of quality and the delivery schedule. Production Approval Holder: Production Approval Holder (PAH) is the holder of a production certificate (PC), approved production inspection system (APIS), parts manufacturer approval (PMA), or a technical standard order (TSO) authorization. This person controls the design and quality of a product or part. Performance Excellence Marketplace: the initiative sponsored by the IAQG in connection with IAQG Council meetings where companies which provide products and services to the aerospace industry are invited to participate in the meeting week by having a table which displays their products and services. Production Organisation Approval: Production Organisation Approvals (POAs) are managed by EASA in accordance with Subpart G of Regulation (EC) 1702/2003. The agency is responsible for: The management of all applications from non EU countries (or from an EU country RMC SAE SCMH upon request of that country) for production organisation approvals (POA). The issue of related certificates and their continued surveillance. Registrars Management Committee: The name of the organization within each IAQG Sector which has the responsibility to manage the Registrars (Certification bodies) in their Sector s ICOP scheme. Society of Automotive Engineers: SAE International is a global association of more than 128,000 engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries. SAE International's core competencies are life-long learning and voluntary consensus standards development. SAE International's charitable arm is the SAE Foundation, which supports many programs, including A World In Motion and the Collegiate Design Series. On of three organizations which sponsor the IAQG including ADD & SJAC. Supply Chain Management Handbook: Authored by the IAQG, the Supply Chain

6 SDR SF SJAC SML SOPCA Space Forum TCCA Management Handbook (SCMH) provides guidance materials to continuously improve On Time, On Quality Delivery (OTOQD) throughout the entire value stream. It s objective is to help the supply chain improve their quality performance through better understanding of aviation, space and defense industry quality management system requirements and expectations. Sector Document Representative: the person representing each Sector who is responsible for interpretations of the document and coordination of those interpretations and changes in the next revision of the document. Space Forum: need definition Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies The Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC) is the sole public entity representing the interests of the Japanese aerospace industry. SJAC was established with the purpose of contributing to the expansion of Japan s aerospace industry, the overall improvement of Japan s welfare through production enhancement and trade expansion of aerospace-related products and sound growth of the aerospace industry as a whole. SJAC was founded in 1952 as a private forum for aircraft industrialists to better capitalize on the reopening of Japan s aviation industry. SJAC is one of the sponsors of the IAQG including ASD and SAE. Standardisation Management Leader: The person working within the IAQG to manage IAQG standards through the development, approval and issuance process. NASA Supplier Outreach Process Control Assurance Program: The NASA program designed to Promote Process Control awareness and Continuous Improvement of NASA's supplier base to increase the quality of NASA procured products and services and reduce process escapes and mishaps. Group of representatives from space agencies and industries working together within IAQG to achieve standards and a certification scheme that can be effectively and efficiently used by space organizations. Transport Canada Civil Aviation: the agency of the Canadian government which is responsible for the Efficiency, safety and security of transportation systems and environmental responsibility for Canada. Transport Canada promotes safe and secure transportation systems.
