2 2 Introduction The online selection tool is a key feature of compubase online and an extremely powerful tool. Existing selections can be used as criteria themselves when creating new targets, which means there are almost no limits to the level of target refinement available. It is also possible to create multiple targets, apply multiple filters, make exclusions Although this is a powerful tool, we ve worked hard to make it simple to use. Certain criteria or features may be not available to everyone, it depends on your subscription type.

13 13 FUNDAMENTALS 4/5: Global filters/exclusions Resellers Integrator It is possible to add filters which will be applied to all the targets in the selection panel rather than defining them for each individual target. This is very useful when creating multiple targets. 15 15 For Open Access Users Only Good to know: The system lets you use credits when you want to No bad surprises: You always know how many credits are required for any action. View a profile with all details Export or Download a record Add a contact to a list for a differed export A company profile doesn t have to be visible to be exported. Exporting and making profiles visible are two separate actions. Making a profile visible does not effect the possibility to export it, it just makes the profile visible for the duration of your subscription. The number of credits required depends on the type of operation and the volume of companies.

18 18 CRITERIA: Good to know! Why are certain filters shown in light grey? A filter shown in light grey is not accessible within your subscription. What is the «Private data» section? This section is unique to the specific client subscription. Subscribers have their own personal filters here e.g. clients / prospects / suspects or the results of data matchings or telemarketing operations we have done for them. What does the Potential figure mean? This shows the total number of companies qualified with the criteria selected. For example, if you select Geo>EMEA>Europe>Germany you will see the figure for the number of qualified company profiles for Germany in the database (approximately ) How often are the counts updated? Every day. Counts are updated on a daily basis to show the latest figures available in our database at any given time. What does the upward-pointing arrow icon do? This is to collapse the selected criteria displayed

19 19 TARGETS:Good to know! 1/2 OR / AND How do the selected criteria affect a target? Put simply, if the total for a given selection increases when you add a criterion you can assume that the relation for that criterion is OR, whereas if the total decreases the relation is AND. For example : the criteria Reseller with UK mean resellers AND UK not resellers OR UK To select Reseller OR UK, put Reseller in target 1 and UK in target 2. We have deliberately pre-set the logical relations to meet 90% of our users requirements. However, if you want to apply the OR relation you can do so using multiple targets. 20 20 TARGETS: Good to know! 2/2 Target names can be edited It is possible to add up to 16 different targets Actions revealed by clicking can be applied specifically to individual targets The overall total for multiple targets is shown here. This is the total once duplicates between the individual targets have been removed, which explains why this figure is not the sum of the totals for each individual target.

21 21 FILTERS: Good to know! 1/2 Since criteria can be used to reduce a selection, why have filters? Criteria chosen as a filter will be applied to all targets. For example: If you use multiple targets for France, to avoid repeated use of the France criterion for each target simply add France as the global filter. It will then be applied to all targets. A filter is applicable for all targets so if you want to apply a filter to one specific target then add the criteria in the target itself. Here the Geo criterion France will be applicable to this target only If used as a filter, the Geo criterion France will be applicable to all of the targets above The total after applying this filter to all your targets is shown here N.B: The relation between targets and filters is always a logical AND relation (must comply the both).

22 22 FILTERS:Good to know! 2/2 What happens if I have multiple filters? Each filter will be applied to your overall target, so the final result will be your overall target after application of all the filters. For example, if you apply two different filters: Filter 1: companies with more than 10 employees Filter 2: companies with a T.O. greater than 2 M The final target will include only companies with more than 10 employees AND making more than 2 M. All other companies will be excluded The number of records concerned by each filter is shown. A total will indicate the number of records remaining in the selection.

23 23 EXCLUSION: Good to know! What are exclusions used for? An exclusion is a kind of ultimate filter. It can be used to remove a target or a private selection from other selections. Examples: - If you have a list of clients in your private criteria that you want to exclude from your target selection. - You may also want to remove or not export addresses for a particular business model like resale to individuals. Instead of selecting all activities but this one in your filter, you can simply exclude this criterion. My target Here the criterion reselling to individuals has been used to exclude all companies belonging to this target group The total number of companies excluded from your target with this exclusion Final overall number of companies in your selection once filter and exclusion are applied

24 24 ACTIONS: Good to know! Clear all Save Open Show companies Statistics Contacts counting Export the selection An easy one to guess, this resets the selection module, clears all targets, filters, exclusions Another obvious one. Remember that a saved target can be used as a criterion too, which means you can use saved targets when making new selections. Open a pre-saved selection to use as a criterion or to clear and replace a current selection. Show the companies in your final selection as a list, the level of visible information depends on your subscription level: If the symbols ***** hide the company name it means that you don t yet have access to this company. With the credit system you may spend credits to have access to it. If you subscribe to a particular target, only companies in your subscription will be visible in the list of responses. This opens a static page on the your selection and provides counts by country, size, revenue. This module provides counts for a chosen position - hierarchical level with or without .
