However, due to the physical limitations of plastic materials, plastic ball bearings cannot attain the rotational speeds, ambient temperatures and load capacities offered by steel rolling bearings. On the other hand, the excellent chemical resistance of plastic deepgroove ball bearings opens up a host of other applications. 2 RE 82 93/1.98

3 Fields of application chemical industry film and photo industry measuring and control technology furniture industry food industry copying machines gaming/amusement machines submarine transport systems beverage filling machines pickling plants galvanizing baths, etc. Resistance to chemicals The following list gives a selection of the main media to which plastic ball bearings are resistant at ambient temperatures: alcohols aldehydes ammonia developer solutions dilute acids dilute alkalis esters ether glycols salt solutions seawater hydrocarbons (various types of gasoline, motor oil, petroleum, diesel fuel, heating oil) Certain additives can damage the bearings. If in doubt, please run tests or consult the chemicals manufacturer! RE 82 93/1.98 3

When subjected to combined axial and radial forces, the effective load on the bearing must not exceed the load capacity C or C. Always use the effective load to calculate the nominal life! Friction Depending on the load and the speed of rotation, the friction coefficient µ varies between.4 and.9.
