Do not operate the welder with the covers removed. Ensure the unit is properly setup (Please see Setup Guide on pg. 9 for correct procedures) Always remember to disconnect the unit from its power source before undertaking servicing or repairs. Never operate this welder in rain or other wet conditions. This unit can be used on a sloping surface up to 15 degrees. If wheels are fitted, chock the wheels. Please wear a leather apron to protect from spatter. Fire or Explosion can cause Injury or Death All flammable materials MUST be removed from the welding area. Do not strike an arc on or near the compressed gas cylinder. Do not attempt to weld fuel or gas containers unless adequate procedures have been taken to ensure that no vapors remain. Fuel tanks should be thoroughly cleaned before welding. 5
6 Do not wear gloves that contain oil, grease or other flammable substances. Do not touch the hot weld bead until it is fully cooled. Do not weld in an area until it is checked and cleared of any combustibles. Sparks can fly up to 30 feet. Do not weld in an area that contains flammable dust. Have a fire extinguisher nearby when welding. Do not weld on a floor that is carpeted or any other flammable material Protect flammable walls and ceilings with a heat resistant material. Check area after welding to make sure that there are no sparks, glowing metal or slag. Welding Fumes and vapors can cause Discomfort, Illness and Death! Toxic gases are given off during the MIG welding process. Always use in a well-ventilated area. Do not weld any materials containing Zinc, cadmium, silver mercury, antimony, cobalt, manganese, selenium or similar metals without seeking professional advice and professional inspection of the ventilation system near the welder. These metals produce extremely toxic fumes. Stop welding if you experience any eye, nose or throat irritation as this is an indication of flumes being given off and inadequate ventilation. Warning: electrical shock can kill! This machine uses a high current. Do not operate this welder until you have read and understood the safety summary. Do not come into physical contact with any part of the welding current circuit including electrode or welding wire Do not use or plug in the welder if any part of your body or clothing is moist or wet. Do not drag cables though water or allow them to contact water. Do not connect the welder ground clamp to an electrical conduit. Do not modify any wiring or ground connections on this welder. Keep all liquid containers away from the welding area. Do not alter the power cord in any way Replace any cracked or damaged parts such as welding cables, insulators, and power cables 6
7 Arc Glare Produces very bright Ultraviolet and infrared Light and these can Damage your eyes and burn your skin if you are not wearing proper protection. Do not weld if your helmet is cracked or broken. Always use a face shield or welding helmet fitted with the correct glass filter. Never use damaged safety equipment. Do not look at an electric arc without proper protection. Protective Clothing Must Be Worn. When welding in an overhead position, a suitable cap is recommended to protect the head and neck. It is recommended that you wear industrial footwear including steel toe shoes. Wear welding gloves at all times while welding. They will protect the hands from Ultraviolet radiation and the direct heat of the arc. It is also recommended that overalls be worn. Other Important Safety Precautions: Do not drape cables around your body. Keep cables away from your body as much as possible. Connect clamp as close as possible to the area to be welded. Consult your doctor is you have a pacemaker or wear hearing aids. Do not strike an arc until all bystanders have protective eyewear on. This unit should never be exposed to rain or snow. Do not use in a wet or damp environment Do not use to thaw pipes. This unit should be connected to main power using a 120 Volt 20 Amp circuit or a 220 volt 20 Amp breaker. 7

Any dust, acids, corrosive gases and substance in the ambient air must be lower normal level except those from welding process. Altitude must be less than 3,281 feet (1km). Keep good ventilation at a distance of 20 inches around. Place in location where the wind speed is not less than 1 m/s. Power supply waveform should be a sine wave and exhibit frequency fluctuations of less than +/- 1% of its rating. Fluctuations in input voltage must be lower than +/- 10% of the rated value. 8
9 SETUP INFORMATION Connection: The welder should be placed in a dry, non-dusty surrounding where there are no corrosive chemicals, flammable, explosive gases. Avoid direct sunlight and rain and maintain an ambient temperature ranging from - 10 to 40. A space of 20 inches should be left around the equipment. If indoor ventilation is not adequate a ventilation exhaust device should be installed. Power Source Connection: Connect the supplied black power cable to power inlet on the rear of the machine and to the desired wall outlet. Make sure to use a 20 Amp circuit. Electrode Polarity: (see above picture) Connect the quick plug with electrode holder to the positive terminal and then tighten up by turning clockwise. Workpiece Connection: Connect the quick plug with earth clamp to the negative terminal and then tighten up by turning clockwise. Attach the earth clamp to the work piece. Warning! Do not connect the work piece to the welder with iron or other poor conductors. 9
10 USING THE ARC WELDER Procedure: 1. Turn on the power switch located at the rear of the welder. 2. Adjust the current knob to the required current value. 3. Pick up the electrode holder and point at the welding edge. 4. Place the electrode on the workpiece, you can now start welding and strike an arc. Electrode Replacement: When the remaining electrode is only 1-2 (2-3cm) away from the holder, you should replace it with a new one. The electrode will be hot so use caution while replacing it. Do not remove any of the coating before you start welding. Scratch gently when igniting the arc, otherwise it is easy to come across the phenomenon of sticking electrode Slag Removal: After finishing work, you should remove the slag with specific knock residue tools in the way of knocking. Warning! The welding slag should not be removed until it is cooled down. Make sure no one is in the area when scraping the slag away. 10
11 Routine Maintenance The major difference between an inverter arc welder and the traditional welder is that the inverter welder has lots of advanced electronic components. As a high technology product it will require high skill to maintain. It is essential to perform daily maintenance on your welder. You must be responsible for proper examination and repair. Maintenance Procedure: 1. Remove any dust with dry and clean compressed air (using a compressor) regularly. 2. Check the connection for the ground electrode holder and make sure the cable is connected correctly and connectors are connected tightly. If the plugs are found to have any corrosion, please give a good polish to them. Then connect them again tightly. 3. Check the condition of cable and plug contacts frequently, at least once a month for stationary use. Warning! Due to high voltage in the main circuit of the welder, you need to follow the safety precautions to prevent accidental electric shock. Do not open the cabinet of the welder and remember to turn off the power before removing dust. 11
