It has been divided up into easy to learn sections that are available in a PDF format and will be made available for download.
Why Facebook? I want to share some statistics with you that validate WHY Facebook is one of the most extraordinary marketing arenas available to us today. Huge Market - there are over 500 million users (growing by 300,000+ per day). Extremely Targeted people tell you what they are interested in. Clusters like-minded people gather together in Groups and through Fan Pages. Organically Viral everything anyone does shows to all of their friends wall's. Exposure the average user spends 55 minutes a day online and has 130 friends. Connection based what I mean by that is Facebook is a social platform that is set up for people to connect and reach out to each other. People DESIRE to connect and share information. This is the foundation of all social media platforms.
Keys To Your Success All social media platforms are a bit different from other marketing mediums. In order to be truly successful using these platforms, you need to change your thinking a bit. Social media is all about COMMUNITY. It is imperative that you build relationships while you are marketing your product or service. KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS Many have tried Facebook, Twitter, etc. to market and have given up saying clearly, this doesn t work! WRONG! The problem, most likely, is that they are going about it all wrong. The key to your success is to take the time to understand the social media philosophy or you will not be successful using this marketing medium. That is where this training comes into play
Where to Start? Let s start with a few basics Your Facebook Profile What is a Facebook Profile? In basic terms, it is a place for other users and friends go to see what you are all about. We will discuss how to set your profile up. Many Facebook users combine their personal friendships with their business associates. This can be done successfully and I will give you a few tips to help organize and separate the two. As we progress through the training, I will share ways to brand your business using Facebook Groups and Fan Pages. For now, we ll stick solely with the personal profile page.
Like This Facebook Tip #1 Create Friend Lists In the sidebar on the left hand side is a link that states friends. Click on Friends and at the top of the page you will see Click on Create a List and you can name your new list whatever you choose.
Separate your friends based on how you know them, etc. For example, you could set up lists like work associates, church friends, high school friends, clients, etc. There is no limit on the friends category. Simply click on the Friends tab to edit and create lists. If someone requests you as a friend and you are unsure how you know them, you can set a Limited Profile privacy setting to keep strangers from seeing more about you than you would like. You can totally control what can be seen through a customized profile. This same feature can come in handy for protecting other aspects of your life. For example if you have a business contact, they will not be able to see pictures of you at the block party.
Like This Facebook Tip #2 Controlling Your Privacy Go to Account (upper right hand corner> Privacy Settings >Custom to edit and choose who sees what based on your friend lists (see tip #1). As you can see, you can choose who sees what within your Facebook profile.

Additionally, it holds value for search engine optimization. If your name or brand is taken, one tip would be to use the underscore aka kim_garst or a period like kim.garst. Google does not recognize this type of punctuation in URL strings, so they will deliver the same result. Owning your own name is a much more effective in marketing than simply using the numbers that Facebook assigns when you first establish an account with them. You definitely want to set it apart from the rest with something unique if possible, and make sure that it is very professional with good lighting and of course a great smile! Be happy!! Unless you have set your privacy settings accordingly, your friends can also post on your wall. Links: Use the "Link" icon above the What s on your mind" section of the Publisher box to enter the URL of the link you want to post to your profile. Click Attach and the link will be attached to your status update. Video: To upload a video, click the "Video" tab, then the Upload a Video button to select the video you want to upload from your computer.

You can install the Facebook Plug-in for Photos to help speed up and simplify the process of uploading your photos by clicking Get The Latest Version" when asked. You can also edit the privacy settings for your photos by clicking on the "Edit Photos" link at the top of the screen, selecting the "Edit Info" tab and updating the privacy options for that particular album.

News Feed highlights what's happening in your social circles on Facebook. It updates a personalized list of news stories throughout the day, so you'll know when Mark adds Britney Spears to his Favorites or when your crush is single again. Now, whenever you log in, you'll get the latest headlines generated by the activity of your friends and social groups. TOP NEWS and MOST RECENT Top News aggregates the most interesting content that your friends are posting, while the Most Recent filter shows you all the actions your friends are making in real-time. STATUS Your status is how you allow other people to know what you are up to. While this may seem like the News Feed or the Top News it is actually utilized a little differently. When you click on the status button in your toolbar, those comments go into the Status Updates. They may make it into top news or the news feed for some of your friends. Your status updates will also show up in Most Recent in real time.

Of course, friends can always comment but the button function is a fun and quick way to express yourself. You can add the Status Magic Facebook app to your profile and this will allow you to add a dislike button to any status updates posted using this APP. You can personalize the working on the second emotion to anything, such as LOVE, HATE, DISAGREE, etc. 2. HOW TO: Add Symbols to Your Facebook Status There are no magic yellow smiley faces YET for Facebook. In fact, the only symbol you can create in a Facebook status update through the shortcut keys is a, by typing <3."
