local e-gov EXPO: Delivering better services for less I am delighted to invite you to join us at the official local e-gov EXPO National Event in April this year. The local e-gov partnership between councils and the ODPM has been running for five years now and has seen major changes to the public face, quality and accessibility of services through the use of effective technology. During this time, local authorities have wholeheartedly taken up the challenge to transform the way in which they interact with their citizens. The results have been extremely impressive: over 97% of English local authority services were e-enabled by the start of this year and local councils are set to deliver efficiency gains of almost 1.9 billion by the end of 2005/06. In 2006, local e-gov will prove its value even further by maximising the return on the millions already invested in delivering the 2005 e-targets. As the agenda moves towards redefining core business processes, technology will play an increasingly vital role in the delivery of innovative, efficient and forward-facing local services - with technologists passing the baton to service managers for the next phase of local government transformation. The local e-gov EXPO National Event will pull together local e-gov projects, relevant stakeholders, leading service providers and a huge range of senior executives from the 388 English local authorities to explore the real power of joined-up thinking on service delivery. This is the largest local government event of its kind, promoting the effective application of e-government in the provision of better services by providing strategic input, practical advice, proven delivery tools and a unique insight into the next phase of national and regional initiatives. We look forward to seeing you there. For those involved in transforming the business of local government, local e-gov EXPO is an event not to be missed.
