Job Description Post title: Responsible to: Salary: Print-Making technician 0.4 FTE Curriculum Manager Ceramics and Craft 7,828 ( 19,571 FTE) per annum pro rata Purpose of Job: To support the Print-Making Department as allocated by the Curriculum Manager, and complete the duties required within the times assigned. To support the technician service in the department and allocated specialist areas within your role. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To ensure the safe maintenance and general upkeep of the accommodation, resources, furniture and equipment To work with the CM, tutors and other technical staff as a key member of the Arts Department To gain a good understanding of the supplies, materials, equipment and tools that are used within the classes, so that guidance on how to use them safely, appropriately and effectively can be given to tutors and learners In liaison with tutors and CM, to prepare and set up studios with the appropriate equipment, materials and tools required for the purpose of the class. Where appropriate test equipment and tools to ensure that they are working effectively and safely To ensure that supplies, materials, equipment and/or tools for all classes are maintained and ordered appropriately, within budget and on time To maintain and update inventories of materials and equipment, to engage in stocktaking at appropriate agreed points during the academic year and to be aware of the quantities and condition of stock / materials at all times To order materials and equipment as required and to keep records in accordance with Finance procedures To effectively maintain any required services for the use of the facilities in the area, resolving any conflicts through negotiation with the parties requiring the facilities To work with the tutors, assisting them in their duties in ensuring that students have adequate support and guidance throughout their time with the college, from pre-entry to exit and progression To ensure that appropriate support is given to the college s learners in their selection and use of the resources available To assist with hanging college exhibitions as required as part of the technician team
Other duties and responsibilities: To sign in and sign out of the building at the actual times of arrival and departure To sign any and all timesheets honestly and correctly To attend shifts where required and previously agreed by the CM To ensure that sickness or absence is reported via the college reception phone and a message left there if any doubts are present with your ability to attend work at the designated time or date To maintain close and professional communications and attend on time all meetings with tutors, technicians and college staff where necessary and where given prior authorisation from the CM General Maintain up to date knowledge of developments and best practice in your area to provide sound professional advice to staff Comply with and actively promote all college policies with full regard for equalities, health and safety and safeguarding requirements Actively participate in professional development and training activities, developing your own personal networks and reflecting on your own performance Be a role model of excellence and professionalism for all staff and students Perform other duties as may be required by the Line Manager or the Principal to ensure the efficient functioning of the College Other Duties and Responsibilities: The post involves working with young people and vulnerable adults and consequently is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) The job description is accurate at 5 April 2019 but is subject to change and development in line with the needs of the College
