Operational Principle Of Trough The collector is rotated from east to west following and tracking the sun Parabolic mirrors reflect & concentrate solar radiation on a focal point where a metal pipe is mounted These pipes have special coating that absorb and converts solar energy into heat Heat transfer fluids like water, oil or molten salt is pumped through the pipe to remove the heat and use it for thermal applications Operates only during daytime when there is sunshine; heat can be supplied during night using a thermal storage system 09.10.2018 Seite 3

Local Solar Radiation Conditions In India India has direct solar radiation resources ranging from 1100 to 2200 kwh/m²/a. The green marked areas are the best irradiated regions of India that ensures up to 300 days of solar operation less impact from Monsoon; nearly 20% of India benefits from good radiation The blue marked areas are the greater portion of the country (> 50% of India) and has radiation in the range of 1450 to 1700 kwh/m²/a. This ensures up to 260 days of solar operation The red marked areas are not suitable for solar thermal applications, due to low radiation and bad weather conditions Zone B Zone C Zone B Zone B Zone B Zone A Zone A Zone B Zone C Zone A 09.10.2018 Seite 12
