Risk Navigator User guide - TPI
Risk Navigator is npower s web-based based platform giving customers secure and easy access to market news as it breaks, allowing them to monitor wholesale price movement at any time of the day, and providing up-to-date details on customers hedging position. It is available at no additional cost to new and existing I&C npower customers as part of the Optimisation Desk services. 1. Market news widget Market News is a library of detailed reports about the UK wholesale energy market. The reports are written by the Optimisation Desk Client Portfolio Managers. To view the report in full, simply click on the required report and it will display in the centre of your screen: Using the drop down menus at the top right of this section, you can switch between baseload and peak positions (where applicable). You can also choose to view your positions in volume (MW) or in percentage of total hedged (%) format. The Dashboard The dashboard consists of 7 widgets as shown below: 2. Contract summary widget This section displays a high level summary of your customers contract(s) details. 6. Latest deals widget This is a list of the latest transactions with the Optimisation Desk and is updated intra day. Original transactions show as a Sell or Purchase, Unset for undoing your original transaction and Reset for closing a previously unset position. Sellback s and Buyback s are volume reforecasts which involve selling or purchasing volumes which were previously transacted. 1 2 3 3. BDM/CPM widget Contact details for a customer s dedicated Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) and Business Development Manager (BDM). 4. Closing prices widget This section displays the latest closing prices and daily change data for key UK and EU wholesale energy markets. The 30 day closing mean (average), high and low values are also shown where appropriate. To switch between baseload and peak deals (where applicable), use the drop down box at the top right of the widget. 7. Twitter widget Live Twitter feed displaying the latest tweets from the Npower Business account @npowerbusiness. 4 5 Using the drop down box in the top right hand corner of the widget you can select the energy product you would like to view. 6 7 5. Position overview widget This is an overview of your customers open and closed positions. The positions are colour coded depending on the contract period you transacted i.e. Seasons, Quarters, Months etc. Please note that your Price Setting Report (PSR) will now only be automatically saved in the Documents section once a month (see more below). The widget also shows your Weighted Average Price (WAP) per contract period, simply by hovering over the bar chart. Where there is open volume, the WAP displayed will be the latest closing price.
The Ticker The ticker at the top of the screen keeps you up to date with the latest news and information from the Optimisation Desk. The Menu Bar Documents Market News Price Alerts Summaries Configuration Contract Documents The Documents section contains all the downloadable documents and reports posted for you. Private Documents These documents are only for you and bespoke to the customers you manage. Price Reports - M2M The report is known as the PSR (Price setting report). It is a Mark to Market report available once a month on the first day of a new EFA month. The report also shows reference prices and monthly reconciliation. Public Documents These documents are generic information provided by the Optimisation Desk. Glossary Definitions of the market technical terms. Events Calendar Lists the upcoming economic news for the week which are potential drivers of the market. Monthly Reports A summary of the previous calendar months market activity covering a wide range of commodities and underlying fuels. Market News The Market News section holds an archive of historic market reports. Reports available include: Daily Market Brief A review of the previous day s energy market movements. Live Energy Market Snapshot Daily market snapshots look at the key drivers of any price movements and highlights any developing news. Energy Market Snapshots help evaluate intra-day price movements and direction and assists with implementing hedging strategy. Summaries There are two functionalities available in this section: Contract Details Further details on your contractual arrangement with npower. Latest Deals You can see up to 18 months worth of transactions. Configuration Allows you to edit and change your password. T&Cs Terms and Conditions section. Miscellaneous Other information made available that do not fall within any of the above categorisations. Weekly Market Reports A summary of the previous weeks energy market movements and economic news, published every Monday. Price Alerts Contact A list of all the Optimisation Desk Team members and their contact details. Price Alerts allow you to keep track of market movements by setting upper and lower warnings. You can have up to five price alerts in place at any one time. Throughout the trading day, whenever Risk Navigator is updated with the delayed prices, the alerts are evaluated. If an alert is triggered, an email will automatically be sent to the Optimisation Desk and to the user that set the alert.
FAQs How can I learn more about Risk Management and the different packages? You can contact your Business Development Manager/ Account Manager or alternatively the Optimisation Desk on 0330 100 5939 or email them at optimisation.desk.team@npower.com How long does it take for my customer s position to be updated on the position overview widget once I have traded? Positions will be updated ~4 times daily so any trading activity will be reflected in the position overview approximately 2 hours after trading. What do I do if I have forgotten my password or get locked out of my account? In these instances you can click on the forgotten password? link below the login fields. This will send an email with a link allowing you to create a new password. I haven t received an email after resetting my password An email is automatically sent to the email address in which the username was associated. The username is also case sensitive and therefore will need to be input in the format it was originally sent to you. How do I save my drop down options so my favourites are displayed on log in? Risk navigator will remember what view you had it on last and save that when you log out. For example, if you had UK power Baseload selected on your closing prices widget and 2013 selected on your position overview widget, these would be displayed again when you next log in. To change your view, simply select the options you want from the various drop down menus and log out. On log out risk navigator will save your current view and display this when you next log in. Unlike the previous version of Risk Navigator, you will no longer be locked out for inactivity, as the platform is receiving updates throughout the day. You will however have to make sure that you log out of the platform and log back in every morning so that any updates are refreshed. How do I get a new user set up? You can set up a new user by contacting the Optimisation Desk, using the details above.
