Overview Reduce both cost and collection times by utilising a Bin Management System (BMS). Automatic monitoring of bins provides timely warnings when they are full, permitting intelligent route planning for collections ensuring no visit is wasted and unsightly overflowing bins are a thing of the past. FarSite s BMS is not just about waste collection - the netbin sensors can be retrofitted to almost any container to monitor its status, whether you need to know how full it is or sending an alert if its on fire, moved or tipped over. The Application software provides an overview of the location and status of the containers together with alerts and route planning support. The Smartphone APP presents bin status and routing planning information, ensuring efficient attendance to only those bins that need attention; vastly reducing collection costs; reducing vehicle journeys; increasing the capacity of the collection fleet and improving the appearance of the city. Key Features Flexible fitment - the netbin sensors are designed to fit the vast majority of containers found in the UK, including those with multiple containers such as the dual recycle / waste bin Reliable long range wireless operation using M2M wireless networks, low power, 10 year battery life, remote bin monitoring using ultrasonic sensors Bins scheduled to be emptied only when full, thus avoiding the unnecessary cost and wasted time to empty partly filled bins Efficient route planning for vehicles to empty only full (or nearly full) bins Eco friendly, reduces vehicle usage and cost, increases collection potential with same fleet/ resources Easy and low cost deployment of the reliable cloudbased system Sensorless bins also supported by the system Smartphone APP for in-cab route planning Statistical reports greatly assists resource deployment planning to adjust container size, locations and numbers to suit demand Sturdy, waterproof and discrete sensor Typical netbin Applications The netbin Management System is suitable for a very wide range of applications in which containers are used. Typical applications include: Fill level measurement for litter bins including dual public recycle / waste bin Fill level detection for commercial waste bins, portable bins and clinical waste Fill level detection for Recycling Banks including Bottles, Clothing, Plastics, Cardboard, Metal Empty level detection for street side salt bins (or e.g. fuel containers) Full or empty level detection for other solids or liquids containers. netbin Npod Sensor Features netbin is designed for reliability, high performance and flexibility. The tough, discrete Npod enclosure is designed to be easy to retrofit, to containers in the street, to either bin covers or lids. The design uses an ultra power efficient ARM microcontroller with on chip FLASH and RAM for code and data storage. On chip interfaces provide access to the ultrasonic distance measuring hardware as well as the tilt and temperature sensors and optional GPS module. Sophisticated power saving circuitry maximizes battery life time. Pg 3
netbin Npod Sensor Features continued... Heavy duty waterproof (IP65), shock resistant HDPE plastic enclosure Long range wireless interface Dual ultrasonic sensors for accurate depth measurements Tilt and Temperature Sensors Extreme power conserving design -20 o C to +70 o C operating range Very long life, wide temperature range, low cost AA lithium iron batteries. Auto-Detect when bin is emptied Options Slave Ultrasonic measurement module for dual container recycling/waste bins, GPS module netbin Management System Application The Bin Management System provided by netbin maintains comprehensive information on all containers being managed: their type, function, capacity, status, location and a history of events. This information is stored in a database which is automatically updated as netbin sensors report changes to their status. The management application can generate alerts if, for example, a fire is detected or a bin overturned. Bin monitoring frequency, temperature alarm thresholds, position update checks on mobile bin are all user configurable. Connecting a PC or smart phone allows optimised collection routes to be generated for the required use e.g. waste collection, recycling collection. Multi-user access is available via a standard web browser interface and Smartphones; login name and password required Smartphone APP for collection drivers - provides optimised route and bin status reporting/ management support. Integrated with backend BMS to maximize realtime visibility User or Cloud based server data logging Alerts forwarded by SMS and/or email configurable thresholds Historical record of usage, servicing, alerts etc. (i.e. maintains record of bin utilisation) for improved demand-led resource management Bin location data, manual or automatic (via GPS) Birds-eye and drilldown views of realtime and historical data - sort by bin level, location, alarms etc Fully customizable alerts - by type, bin, location etc Plan collection routes Estimate times, costs and more Realtime indicators of netbin wireless signal and battery levels Lid left open events and alerts for excessive temperature Generation of customizable reports API to optionally provide data access to 3 rd party systems Sample bin location map from the management application Pg 4
Maintenance and Upgrades A maintenance and support service is provided as part of adopting the netbin system - this includes online updates to the Application features and sensor firmware, and repair to any failing devices. netbin Npod Technical Specifications General Measurement Sensor Depth Range Resolution Temperature Sensor Tilt Sensor Enclosure Material Fixing Dimensions Weight Operating Temperature Power Battery Type/Size Battery Lifetime Battery Level Monitor Communications Options Antenna Approvals Data Logging OTA Software Updates Optional Sensors netbin Npod, a wireless, battery-powered, ultrasonic container-level monitoring system providing data over a wireless network to the Bin Management System 40KHz Ultrasonic sensor 5cm - 3m 2cm Report bin temperature, normally used for fire detection Detects lid opening, a fallen bin etc. Ingress Protection Rating IP65 HDPE Plastic 4 x M6 stainless machine screws 115 x 89 x 55 mm excluding fixing mounts Approx 300g (with batteries) -20 o C to +70 o C Battery Operated (non-rechargeable) 4 AA Lithium Iron Disulphide non rechargeable, replaceable 10 years (1 reading per day average) Battery charge state is monitored GPRS (mobile networks), NeulNET, others network types can be supported Internal CE To User or Cloud based servers Device has space for two code copies, a running copy and a backup copy.
