DALKIA ENERGY EFFICIENT SERVICES

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT: Global warming: Drastically reduce CO 2 emissions Energy: Volatile energy prices showing an upward trend Energy optimization Preserve the environment Rapid urban growth Develop the industry sector THE WORLD FACE A COMPLEX CHALLENGE 2

OUR EXPERTISE Dalkia develops, implements and manages greener and more economical energy solutions to support the sustainable growth of cities and businesses 3

SCOPE OF OUR ENERGY EFFICIENT SERVICES 1 2 3 Energy production at regional scale On site energy production Better use of energy 837 heating and cooling networks 392 biomass facilities 5 770 hospitals ( 467 000 beds) 4 640 industrial sites 4,8 millions housing units 23 800 Educational, cultural, leisure and sports facilities 4

1 Energy production at regional scale Local energy : Dalkia operates the production and distribution of thermal energy through its heating and cooling network COUNTRY REGION SITE Primary energy (coal, oil gas) and grid power supply Biomasse, Local Géothermie resources Local Production energy production locale d énergie 1 Heating and cooling newtorks 5

CASE STUDY Dalkia and the city of Lodz in Poland THE ISSUE DALKIA s SOLUTION RESULTS Optimize the production and distribution of heating through the district network of the city of Lodz, Poland's second city 2 560 MW thermal 480 MW electricity 780 km network system 8 000 plants Construction and operation of three cogeneration plants. Co firing coal / biomass. Plants Production Planning depending on weather forecasting. Control Center to manage all network criteria (temperature, pressure, etc.) Customer satisfaction + 10% satisfaction rate Carbon Economy: 768,000t per year equivalent to the annual emissions of 250,000 cars 6

2 On site energy production Energy performance: Dalkia manages the production and distribution of industrial utilities to improve energy efficiency on site COUNTRY REGION SITE Primary energy (coal, oil gas) and grid power supply Ressources Local resources locales Industrial Production utilities sur site steam, d énergie cool, compressed chaleur, vapeur air,.. 2 Local energy production 1 Heating and cooling networks 7

CASE STUDY Dalkia and Sara Lee in the Netherlands THE ISSUE DALKIA s SOLUTION RESULTS Manage the capacity increase in production of a site while reducing its carbon footprint Create value from by products processes Ensure reliability of industrial utilities on site Production of steam by burning waste coffee grounds in a biomass boiler Full technical management of industrial utilities: steam, compressed air, cold water Partnership with Veolia Water for the wastewater treatment plant A unique technique developed in Europe together with Research and Innovation 14,000 tones CO 2 emissions avoided per year equivalent to the annual emissions of 40,000 cars. Competitiveness of the industrial site enhanced by a improved environmental footprint and better availability of industrial utilities 8

3 Use better Optimized energy: Dalkia provides innovative energy solutions, tools and management methods to improve energy efficiency of buildings COUNTRY REGION SITE Primary energy (coal, oil, gas) and grid power supply Local resources Industrial utilities steam, cool, compressed air,.. 2 Local energy production 1 Heating and cooling network Energy services 3 9

CASE STUDY Dalkia and the city of Montluçon in France THE CONTEXT The city of Montluçon wanted to improve the energy and environmental performance of its facilities (heating, hot water, air conditioning) DALKIA s SOLUTION Energy performance contract (EPC) Analysis of the situation, Selection and implementation of innovative solutions: biomass boilers, heat pumps, solar thermal, networks... New energy mix of fossil fuels and renewable energy (biomass, geothermal, solar,...) Communication actions towards residents to promote rational use of energy. RESULTS + 180 energy performance actions successfully carried out 17% of energy savings from the first year 11% overall costs savings for the city. 10

14.1 TWh ENERGY SAVINGS Almost 10 % renewable energy (out of which 2,6 Mt biomass) 6.6 Million tons C0 2 emissions avoided SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE 50% electricity annual consumption of a country like Ireland = = Global emission in a city like Paris A UNIQUE EXPERTISE 123,500 energy sites managed More than 800 heating and cooling networks 77 800 MW heating capacity A KEY PLAYER 8.3 billion revenue in 2011 Operating in 40 countries 52,700 employees * 2011 figures 11

Dalkia in Bulgaria THE CONTEXT Energy intensity of the Bulgarian economy*: Bulgaria: 854 EU 27: 168 Denmark: 104 HIGH POTENTIAL 1) CHP Share of CHP electricity in BG electricity production: Bulgaria: 6 % EU 27: 12% Denmark: 49% 2) DHN Share of electricity for heating: Bulgaria: ~ 40% EU 27: ~ 10% 3) Biomass CHP BG Objectives 2020: production of 300 MWe Feed in tariffs 4) Energy Services DALKIA s SOLUTION Integrated approach of Dalkia Energy Services: Audit for Energy Efficiency Development of a Project Execution of the Project Energy Management Putting the District Heating back on track: Energy efficiency measures Bringing back the trust of the customers Corportate Social Responsability The employees at the heart of our strategy *: Kg of oil equivalent per 1 000 EUR of GDP Source of Data: Eurostat 12

OUR GOALS IN BULGARIA To play a bigger role in the district heating system, to develop the energy services (heat, electricity, cooling ) with municipalities through contracts with guaranteed results and to participate and help the municipalities to use more Renewable Energy Sources OUR STRENGHTS 1 2 3 A global approach to energies, technologies and uses A unique expertise in developing, constructing, operating and managing high energy performance facilities Two shareholders, both worldwide leader in their sector: Veolia Environnement and EDF (Electricité de France). 13
