SUSTAVACU 6 GF Glass fibre reinforced sheets, excellent for high Thermoforming offers clear economic advantages over injection molding by considerably reducing tool costs while offering much higher flexibility in processing at the same time. This applies in particular to the production of parts with smaller series. With their excellent properties at high quality level, sheets of SUSTAVACU 6 GF make ends meet in the field of thermoformable plastics products. SUSTAVACU 6 GF distinguishes itself by its high dimensional stability under heat, and at the same time shows excellent thermoforming properties. This glassfibre reinforced and shock resistant product withstands even extreme mechanical loads. Automotive industry SUSTAVACU 6 GF offers resistance against grease, oils and fuels, and is especially suited for functional parts and trims in the engine compartment (sound insulation, air ducting parts) for under-floor parts, fenders, side linings etc. Protective cover made of SUSTAVACU 6 GF The protective cover completes the accessory for the BMW HP 2. The thermo-formed add-on component protects the frame from damages caused by stone chipping. Because the material is impact resisting and rigid at the same time, a high longevity of the part also during cross-country drive can be expected. 3 Röchling Sustaplast
grade thermoforming applications Mechanical- and plant engineering E. g. sumps, bonnets, trim panels and covers Advantages of SUSTAVACU 6 GF first thermoformable polyamide semi-finished product increased impact resistance against other glass fibre reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6) types in comparison to other thermoforming materials, e. g. polycarbonate (PC), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrol (ABS), Polyolefine etc. SUSTAVACU 6 GF shows: Other fields of application The application areas of SUSTAVACU 6 GF are versatile. In electrical- and mechanical engineering, orthopaedics and medical engineering or in other sectors. You will find parts made of SUSTAVACU 6 GF in most different applications. Due to the UV-resistance, outdoor use is possible anytime. high continuous service temperature extremely high mechanical resistance and rigidity due to glass fibre reinforcement increased heat deflection temperature (mechanical resistance at high temperatures) excellent chemical resistance against greases, oils and fuels The rigidity of the material allows a significant reduction of material thickness compared to other plastics and even substitutes metal. Thus, a clear reduction of weight is possible. very UV-resistance Production programme Air-ducting system in engine compartment in cars Thickness Width Colour 2-6 mm 1.000 mm black
Shipbuilding Cover for ship engines The properties of SUSTAVACU 6 GF also convince ship engine producers. Very dimensional stability and high continuous service temperature in comparison to polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), characterise SUSTAVACU 6 GF in this application.
Processing of SUSTAVACU 6 GF printability So far, it had not been possible to produce technically perfect parts from common linear polyamide 6 (PA6) material by thermoforming. Usual polyamide 6 remains stiff and dimensionally stable during heating up until reaching the point of crystallisation. Any further heating beyond the crystalline melting point causes a sudden drop in the melting viscosity of the material since the softening range of the material is very narrow. This would result in faulty parts. Regarding SUSTAVACU 6 GF, the temperature-frame of the softening range is considerably wider. It is similar to the thermoforming behaviour of other materials. Please follow our processing instructions! very deep-drawing properties machinability Processing parameters metallisation adhesiveness weldability Predrying temperature 110 C 1,5-2,0 mm/h* Duration of drying process (Long storage time of the sheets require a longer drying time) Tool temperature 91 C Forming temperature 240 C-250 C Shrinkage during processing 0,2 %-1,6 % non-woven laminated foam laminated SUSTAVACU 6 GF absorbs moisture during storage, which may cause bubbles during the thermoforming process. The material must therefore be pre-dried. During the deforming process, special attention must be paid to the extrusion direction, since the semi-finished products show a different shrinkage behaviour, in longitudinal direction and transverse direction. *This applies to newly produced sheets. Uniformly distributed wall thickness (measured on 7-steps rectangle pyramid) 2,0 1,5 theoretical thickness (1,24 mm) SUSTAVACU 6 GF (short side) SUSTAVACU 6 GF (long side) The curve progression behaviour is similar to other common deep-drawing materials. Tests show thermoformability and uniformly distributed wall thickness, even at high degree of stretching. 1,0 0,5 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Röchling Sustaplast 6
