General Information Program Description This qualification is suited to those working as administrators and project officers. In this role, individuals use well developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others. Career Opportunities You should enrol in Certificate IV in Business if you are working, or intending to work as an administrator or project officer, or wish to gain more knowledge within your current role to: Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs to meet legislative requirements Provide intermediate spreadsheet skills Analyse and present research information and write complex documents Identify risk and apply risk management processes Implement continuous improvement Develop work priorities Co-ordinate the implementation of customer service strategies and address customer needs ntry requirements While there are no pre-requisites, it is preferred that students have one of the following: a) BSB30115 Certificate III in Business or other relevant qualifications b) Relevant vocational experience in business capacity Outcome BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business Pathways from the qualification BSB40415 Certificate IV in Business Administration, BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources, BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or You can also continue on to a Diploma level qualification. Duration Depending on your learning method, this course can take up 12 months to complete. Dates and Times Semester 1 and Semester 2 study options - Please refer to the class timetable for the current Semester. Class based enrolment If you have enrolled to study in class, you will be expected to attend the classes for the units you have enrolled in, as per the class timetable. Attendance at classes will help you stay on track with your learning and complete assessments in a timely manner. The teacher will be available to assist you in your learning. If you are unable to attend class because of illness or other unavoidable issues, please notify the teacher by email or phone to discuss your study. Additional study will be required outside of the scheduled classes. Competency based training Certificate IV in Business is offered under the Business Services Training Package and is competency based that is; - the ability to perform something to an agreed standard. Learning and assessment involves completion of activities, assignments and knowledge activities. To further enhance your skill level you should consider accessing voluntary work placement opportunities if you aren t currently employed - talk with your teacher for more ideas on this. nrolment The enrolment process with TasTAF requires the completion of several forms. This includes: o Student Details Form o Course Selection Form o You are also required to provide proof of identity and evidence of concession if applicable. The enrolment will also include participating in a suitability process. This requirement is designed to ensure you are provided with the most appropriate study and learning pathway to achieve your qualification goals. To enrol with TasTAF, you must have a USI (the Australian Government requires all students to hold a unique student identifier (USI) - visit www.usi.gov.au to create your USI. Once enrolled, you will be provided with a Username, Password and relevant information allowing you to access course work. This process can take up to 48 hours. nrolment Costs and Concessions applying There are various levels of fees generally applying to students wishing to enrol. ntitled Fee Rate A student eligible for the ntitled fee rate must satisfy certain conditions: o An Australian or New Zealand citizen; or o A permanent resident of Australia; or o Hold a state sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residence; and o Must reside or work in Tasmania; and o Be of working age (16-65) o Has not completed a Certificate III or higher qualification in the past five years Concession the concession applies to eligible students. Students may be eligible for a concession if: o They are receiving a Centrelink allowance such as Newstart, Youth Allowance, Disability Support Pension, a Pension, Austudy or Abstudy o They are listed on a current Centrelink Card as a dependant A concession requires the student, or parent with a dependant student, to present one of the following: Pensioner Concession Card; (Includes PPS, CAR notation); Veterans Affairs Concession Card; vidence verifying receipt of either Austudy/Abstudy or Youth Allowance Health Care Card. Learning materials such as text books, protective clothing etc. may not be covered by concessions. Important information in relation to fees: Concession does not apply to or include Learning Resource Fees. Upfront payment can be made by FTPOS, credit card, cash or cheque. Alternative payment options by Instalment Plans can also be accessed. Sponsorship may be applicable for fee payment through agreement with a relevant sponsor, such as a Job Network Agency or employer. If you withdraw from the course prior to completing a unit or undertaking 20% or more of the course (the advised Census date), you may be eligible for a refund of the fees. You can discuss fees and payments, including our refund policy, prior to enrolment or further information is available at: http://www.tastafe.tas.edu.au/future/fees-and-payments/ Withdrawal Process There is a withdrawal period which is clearly printed on the student Confirmation of nrolment Form issued following completion of enrolment. If the student wishes to withdraw within this period, the student must initiate the withdrawal process with a teacher. The preferred method is through email advising the teacher they wish to withdraw from the Course. However, if the request is made after the withdrawal date or following successful completion of a unit within this period, the student may still initiate a withdrawal from the course, but will be required to pay the associated enrolment fee. When a student has not participated for a period of 6 weeks without any contact, the teacher will then record a withdrawal. Qualification nrolment Fee and the Learning Resource Fee The enrolment fee (GST free) for the Certificate IV in Business is shown below: Non-entitled Annual Concession Non-entitled $1335 $370 Plus Other Fee: Learning resources: $190 (GST included) Recognition of Prior Learning If you have skills and experience to meet all the competencies of any units and can demonstrate/document that competency, then you may apply for recognition of prior learning. Please talk to the enrolling teacher for more information. On Campus Study/Off Campus Study Learning support is provided throughout this course, as per the timetable for the class based enrolment. A teacher/facilitator is available to assist you reaching your learning goals. You are expected to show some independence in your learning. Your teacher is available to provide advice, but ultimately you are the one who needs to make time to complete your goals and this will require additional study outside of the designated class times. Learning Resources To complete this qualification, you must have access to: a computer, a personal email address an internet connection and have Microsoft Office installed. If you are studying on-campus, these resources are provided for you. If you chose to study off-campus, it is your responsibility to provide or find access to these resources. Catapult elearning access provides an online learning and assessment model following commencement of your study, you will receive a username and password. Watsonia Resources are used for the computing units the learning and assessment resources are accessed through the TasTAF online learning platform. It is also important to regularly check the platform for information provided from your teacher. Work Presentation Consider how you should present work to meet workplace standards. It is preferable that work is word-processed, proof-read and formatted in a professional manner. Work involving the completion of forms and/or including calculations should be accurate and completed according to instructions. Consider the grammatical structure of sentences and paragraphs. Literacy and numeracy support is available at TasTAF regional campuses and may also be available through LINC services in your area. Assessment information Assessment will be included within the online course, but may require some additional work to meet the evidence requirements of the unit. For example, a voluntary work placement will provide evidence of you applying business skills in a workplace context.
