Jaz company Community efforts In 2013 Jaz Hotels & Resorts hosted and participated in a lot of local community events in Hurghada and Sharm El Shiekh. We were involved in many activities, and donated our time and efforts in various ways, to make a difference to the lives of others. We joined in some activities, for example: Year after year, Jaz hotels & Resorts continues to try and add value for our community. We believe that we have an important role to play in this, and that we should do our best to support it. Blood Donations In Sharm El Shiekh staff & managers took part in a blood donation drive. Clean Up activities Clean-up campaigns are held at least 5 times per year, involving our hotel staff and guests, and sometimes other local businesses too. Cultural Festivals Jaz Hotels & Resorts was one of the sponsors of the annual Russian-Egyptian culture festival which aims to activate the tourism sector and send a message to the Whole World about the situation in the Red Sea. Donation We give our guests the opportunity to participate with donations for Resala charity, by collecting and distributing on their behalf. Local community activities (with Bedouins) Our hotels in SSH, Dahab & Taba have good cooperation with Bedouins regarding giving them the waste of the garden and trees as fodder for their sheep, camels and goats. We also invite Bedouins to display and sell their handicraft to our guests, on behalf of their whole communities. Hospital 57357 Race For Life and The Big Pink Party is an annual event that we sponsor and host for the community of Sharm El Sheikh, in order to raise money for the Egyptian Cancer Hospital for Children.

Jaz company environmental projects You have to speculate to accumulate! Jaz Hotels & Resorts looks for ideas and projects in order to reduce and conserve all resources. The Sustainability department has assigned some projects as a standard for the whole company to follow. A monthly target was assigned for each hotel and each project separately, according to the hotel s business status. Projects regarding resources savings were: Replacing the normal lights by power saving lights. Implementing shades for the air conditioning units. Implementing water reducers in all taps and showers. Implementing push button showers in public showers. We started in 2009-2010, and after these 2 years we had achieved a lot in our project s targets. Due to strong team work, the sustainability department together with the top management have achieved good progress in the completion of their targets and plans. Power saving lights: The target for the whole 40 hotels in Jaz Hotels & Resorts was to replace 135000 lights and by the end of 2013 we had achieved 88% from this target. Air conditioning Shades: Our target for this project was to cover 9100 units and we had achieved 60% of this target. Water Reducers: We achieved 72% from our target which was 10000 reducers for taps and showers. During the last 3 years the tourism sector has passed a very tough and hard business curve. Low occupancy, closed hotels, low budgets all of these were factors affecting our performance for those projects, in spite of this we achieved very good results and in fact, we have some hotels which successfully completed their projects 100%.

Our resources are the most precious of what we have, we need to conserve them and make sure that they are used efficiently. The Sustainability department implemented a standard monitoring system for all our hotels consumptions. Water, electricity, irrigation water, chemicals, paper, diesel and waste are monitored and compared year on year to set targets and follow improvements. Projects were agreed upon for each hotel individually, according to their current consumptions, size, number of facilities, and occupancy in order to achieve results within the international benchmark appropriate for the given hotel. The most important targets are: For electricity the target is between 35-45 kwh per guest per night. For water the target is 400-550 liters per guest per night, depending on the hotels category. In 2013, which was a very difficult year regarding the tourism business, we tried to keep our consumptions within the international range and we succeeded in many hotels to sustain our yearly average, but the average total areas consumptions in some resources was a little bit high due to the circumstances of the business experienced by all. Jaz Hotels & Resorts 2013 consumption monitoring per guest per night for some resources: Electricity consumption: South Sinai = 34.12 kwh Red Sea = 32.96 kwh Ein El Sokhna = 26.66 kwh Luxor = 120.5 kwh

Diesel consumption: South Sinai = 1.88 liters Red Sea = 1.78 liters Ein El Sokhna = 4.87 liters Chemicals consumption: South Sinai = 0.10 kg Red Sea = 0.68 kg Ein El Sokhna = 2.50 kg Luxor = 0.81 kg

Environmental Awareness An excellent and strong characteristic of Jaz Hotels & Resorts environmental vision is the increase in environmental awareness for both our guests and staff. We have created a sophisticated standard for passing the knowledge to them. We provide our guests with a lot of information regarding resources conservation, international environment day s celebration, national parks, endangered animals, coral reefs.. all of these is through our boards, flyers, stickers, questionnaire and booklets. In 2013 we finished our new environment booklet and we have 3 different languages versions. This booklet gives general and practical information to our guests about what Jaz Hotels & Resorts does to conserve our environment. Also in 2013 we finalised our new sustainability kids booklet Happy Earth and we are under the process of printing it in 3 different languages. The idea was that our kids will be taking over the leadership for the coming period so we tried to give them some data and information about sustainability, resources, wastes and all these points are through some activities like puzzles, drawings, matching etc. Giving our staff trainings and awareness sessions on environmental policy, saving resources, ISO standards, environmental projects.etc, has been one of our aims since the beginning of creating the sustainability department. We have succeeded in passing the information to our staff as they are our eyes and hands in implementing any standards and without their sharing our mission could be very difficult. We need each other in order to save our World.

Awards & Recognition For 2013 Jaz Hotels& Resorts has passed with the most successful of years. We achieved new ranks and awards for the first time since the beginning of our company. There are hundreds of awards and certificates for environment and sustainability all over the world and as one of our standards is to achieve international and national awards and certificates, we apply for the standards which we see have added values for us. Big tour operators are asking hotels to achieve environmental awards and standards. It is now compulsory and no longer optional. We are following several standards in Jaz Hotels & Resorts: TUI Environment championship TUO ECO Travelife ISO-14001 Earth Check Green Star Our achievements in 2013 TUI Umwelt (Environment championship): For the second time in the history of the company we achieved 8 awards from the top best 100 hotels all over the world. For the first time since the award began our company achieved one of the first 10 ranks (Jaz Makadi Star, 7 th rank). ISO-14001: Achieved the ISO-14001 for the first time in Jaz Mirabel and now we have 20 hotels certified with this international standard. Travelife: Successfully renewed the awards for 15 of our hotels in HRG, Marsa Alam & SSH and all achieved Golden awards. Green Star: Achieved the awards in 5 new hotels so we now have a total of 31 certified hotels Earth Check: Achieved the platinum certificate award for the Earthcheck standard which is 10 years from successful implementation.

International Compatibility Whenever there are projects, plans, targets you need a vision and a proper monitoring system. One way of monitoring is to have a third eye looking to what you are achieving and the steps you are taking. So, we made a trip to Turkey, to see one of the most excellent environmental standards in the hotels field, to see what they are doing and how we compare. Here are some points which we tried to make compatible with international standards, and we are very proud to see that what we have been doing for the past years is the same standard followed internationally: Environment Boards We have a similar concept of passing information to guests, though our Environment Board design. Whereas they chose to add samples of waste and information about their degradation periods; our focus is on endangered species and a variety of other information relevant to the local environment. Guest Awareness They have a newspaper about their activities, whereas we have environment booklets, flyers and questionnaires. Garbage Segregation We have the same standard for garbage separation. Jaz Hotels & Resorts Future Plans Each year new technologies are presenting new challenges in the field of environment and energy efficiency. We believe that it is time to implement the technologies required to reduce fossil fuel dependency, and save through investment. We look for new ideas with an optimistic view and with hope that new inventions can lead us to the right track. Jaz Hotels & Resorts sustainability department has set some plans and projects for the years 2014-2015 which emissions, conserve electricity and save money. 1- Electronic resources consumption monitoring. A new web site for making an accurate monitoring for your resources consumption: wastes, CO2 emissions and energy consumption for each property individually, or between hotels in one area or even properties from the same group and making comparison between years and months and just by one click, it is a very good tool for top management to see their performance day by day.

2- Heat isolation film sheets. CFC and electricity are both major factors concerning our environment, particularly in terms of climate change, which is the single biggest environmental concern of this age. We are in the process of a study to implement heat isolation window films, which will help to reduce our air conditioning usage since they will shield rooms from 75% of the sun s heat, and will make the biggest difference to our CFC and electricity consumptions, thus reducing harmful emissions. 3- Solar heaters. Using solar heating technologies has become a necessity with all the present circumstances. We implemented a sample and we monitored our consumptions and the results were perfect, a saving of more than 70% of electricity. So, we are now in the process of implementing solar heaters for our guest rooms. 4- Pool LED lights. We had started the project of replacing the normal lights 300 watt for our pools by LED lights with 21-50 watt, this will give us good savings in our total electricity consumption. 5- Solar garden lighting. Garden and landscaping lighting is a big electricity consumer. We want to focus on this point to see where we can save. We have trials in place to monitor the effect and efficiency of solar powered LED lights, and will decide to implement accordingly. 6- Motion Sensors. We have started to implement motion sensors fitted with timers in all our public toilets.

BIO-diesel fuel. This is one of the pioneers projects which Jaz Hotels & Resorts are sponsoring. Fresh graduates from the faculty of engineering have invented a machine which treats used cooking oil and converts it to a Biodiesel for use in machines, boilers and engines. This biodiesel is a natural biological fuel which emits significantly less GHGs than standard diesel combustion, and therefore will greatly reduce our environmental impacts. Jaz Hotels & Resorts aims to invest in the new generation, as they are our future. This project is potentially a great benefit for our community and our environment, therefore we have decided to sponsor it and provide the opportunity for it to enter the market. We will be the pioneers of the biodiesel field in the hospitality industry in Egypt.

Thank You We have made a huge effort since 2006 and we continue to maintain what we have already achieved whilst adapting and improving as we go. We are following new technologies and ideas closely in our strive to reduce our environmental impacts, in particularly our GHG emissions, which are an immediate concern Worldwide. A clean and sustainable environment for our next generation is our dream. This motivates us to spend time, research, efforts and money to ensure the best for our World. Act Responsible, Think Sustainable
