Data Sheet Cisco Enterprise Mobility Services Platform (EMSP) Product Overview The Cisco Enterprise Mobility Services Platform (EMSP) is a holistic mobile software platform. It unifies the development, management, maintenance, and distribution of mobile applications across disparate platforms, devices, and back-end systems. Built with Cisco s thought leadership and integrated with Cisco s intelligent network services, EMSP simplifies enterprise mobility for businesses in a secure and scalable manner. Mobility, of course, has become top of mind with most CIOs. Yet dissimilar mobile solutions have created a patchwork approach to mobility with significant efficiency, deployment, and management pain points. EMSP is Cisco s solution to the patchwork problem with a complete enterprise mobility ecosystem platform (Figure 1). Figure 1. Cisco EMSP: A Comprehensive Approach to Mobile Apps Features and Benefits Cisco EMSP delivers new capabilities that help you make the most of your mobility infrastructure investment (see Table 1). Table 1. EMSP Core Capabilities EMSP Capability Feature/Enhancement Business Value Intelligent infrastructure modules Adapters that interface with Cisco Integrated Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Mobility Services Engine (MSE), Cisco partner and third-party mobile device management (MDM) software, Cisco wireless LAN controllers, and Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) Enterprise Module. Exposed infrastructure service APIs for use by other EMSP components. Service creation environment to generate integration workflows between infrastructure elements, mobile applications, and enterprise back-end systems. Business rules engine to create and process rules based on intelligent information from the infrastructure. Controlled and secure enterprise app store (EAS) based on network services integration intelligence. Reduced development and integration costs, as EMSP is optimized for Cisco s Intelligent Application Infrastructure. Reduced app deployment time and time to market with an automated, process-centric approach that includes comprehensive testing and validation. 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. EMSP Capability Feature/Enhancement Business Value management (MAM) User and application management Operations, administration, and maintenance (OAM) portal for provisioning and administration Blacklisting and whitelisting of apps to manage security Device-centric data storage management Security management Container management Service access and management Customizable reporting for flexibility to create and extract relevant reports Integrated push notification framework Management based on location and identity analytics. Enhanced mobile security. A dynamic approach to MAM means access is no longer strictly on or off. The MAM system accounts for user identity and device location to set and enforce access rights and policies. Middleware integration Middleware-specific workflows and integrated development environment (IDE) for automating back-end integrations. This automation simplifies infrastructure and enterprise system integration. Integrated transformation engine allows analysis and transformation of multiple data formats and caching of data and templates. Adapters for integration with various enterprise back-end systems, such as SAP, Oracle, and web services. See the Platform Support and Compatibility section for specifics. Support for Short Message Service (SMS) and email channels as data inputs or notifications. Support for multitenant and cloud deployment models. Greater efficiency than many mobile application development platforms. EMSP provides a middleware integration (aggregation) tier for a holistic approach to enterprise mobility, eliminating the cost and compexity of a multivendor, patchwork environment. Support for multiple layers of transport and payload security. Unified connection pooling to disparate data sources. Push notification gateway framework for managing push events, data, analytics, and reporting. development Separate and optimized IDE for thick, hybrid (native/html5), and thin client mobile application development. Drag-and-drop capability for development of application user interface. XML-based native client IDE to generate cross- platform code. Hybrid client IDE based on open-source Cordova/JavaScript libraries. Thin client IDE adopts Java Server Faces (JSF) based technology with dynamic screen elements based on device s browser capabilities. Multilingual support for applications. Creating and managing mobile apps is faster and less costly because of mobile and enterprise application integration. Ability to integrate vertically specific and functional business layers. Allows for single application code development to be rendered to any device or platform, greatly reducing costs and development time. Offline data support and synchronization for mobile application data. Containerized hybrid framework. Integrated emulators for testing within the IDE (Android, BlackBerry). Automated binaries generated for applications from IDE (Android, BlackBerry). Native container feature for all Android, ios, and BlackBerry devices. Ability to block and unblock application access. MAM development features: Container management Remote app provisioning and version management Role-based access and authorization Device registration and tracking Remote wiping of application data 2014 Cisco and/or its affiliates.
