BIOGAS PLANTS EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY FOR CLEAN ENERGY INVENTIVE BY NATURE

BIOGAS PLANTS Biogas is produced by anaerobic digestion of organic waste from the food industry and agricultural by-products. The utilisation of organic material from plants and animal origin adds additional value to farming and food processing. Biogas, as a source of renewable energy, has an abundant global potential. Unlike wind and solar energy, biogas can be stored and supplied on demand. The fundamental cornerstone of biogas technology is a stable and sustainable energy supply. INSPIRED BY NATURE

OUR KNOW-HOW We offer our customers turnkey solutions and custom services for biogas projects in agricultural, industrials, and communal application. Building upon our 50 years of experience in construction and maintenance of bolted steel tanks FARMATIC has designed, constructed and commissioned turnkey biogas plants since the early 1990s. We are a renowned EPC contractor for plant sizes up to 5 MW. Our customers receive all services and know-how from one source: in every step of a project from detailed engineering all the way to final construction, commissioning to after-sales service. Experienced project engineers and in-house construction crews guarantee that every component is of the highest quality. FARMATIC offers system solutions on the highest technological level. Our strict ISO-certified quality management ensures the longevity and economic efficiency of our customers investment. In addition to turnkey biogas plants, FARMATIC supplies individual components such as specialized storage solutions, digesters, thermal storage units, digestate dryers, agitators and heat exchangers from our own designs. Biogas system components provided by FARMATIC are the result of 20 years of first-hand experience in biogas technology.

AGRICULTURAL BIOGAS PLANTS When planned optimally, agricultural biogas plants perfectly fit into farming and soil nutrition cycles. The anaerobic digesting of manure, agricultural byproducts and energy crops not only provides electricity and usable heat it also produces a high quality organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. The nutrients contained in the substrate are broken down during the biogas conversion and thereby increasing the fertilizer quality of the digested product on the arable land. Each FARMATIC biogas plant is customtailored to the customer specifications and to the feedstocks available locally. All our plant s components consist of industrial grade materials that are highly resistant to corrosion. Our focus on quality in both engineering and construction of biogas plants is the foundation of the high value added throughout the life cycle of our biogas plants. The high return on investment is achieved through extraordinarily low operational and maintenance costs in conjunction with an extremely low energy consumption of the plant. feeding of solid biomass mixing pump delivery ofliquid biomass slurry storage heat exchanger tall digester post-digester ELECTRICITY THERMAL ENERGY CHP plant local energy production CNG gas station gas grid biogas upgrading to natural gas quality emergency flare digestate drying digestate storage

ORGANIC WASTE PROCESSING PLANTS Biogas plants for the processing of organic waste from gastronomy, markets and the food industry differ from agricultural plants in complexity of the process technology and material requirements concerning protection from corrosion and impurities in the substrates. Waste to energy plants are perfectly suited for treating of very moist or liquid organic waste as well as fats and oils. Additionally, our biogas plants can process almost all organic waste materials from the food industry. In this business sector, anaerobic digestion offers significant cost advantages over traditional disposal methods such as incineration both to waste management companies and producers alike. The combination of our technology for multi-stage separation of impurities and our proven digester system, which prevents the formation of swimming layers or sediments, guarantees the safe and continuous operation of our biogas plants. We offer extremely efficient biogas installations with minimal maintenance and operational costs to our customers in the industry and communal waste management. delivery of solid organic waste packaging depackaging and shredding hygienisation buffer storage tall digester post-digester tdi t ELECTRICITY THERMAL ENERGY CHP plant heat exchanger heat exchanger CNG gas station gas grid local energy production biogas upgrading to natural gas quality emergency flare optional digestate processing desulphurisation gas drying digestate storage

THE FOUNDATION OF OUR SUCCESS MATERIAL The foundation of our highly efficient biogas plants are FARMATIC s bolted steel tanks using the highest quality of materials. Over the years, FARMATIC has completed over 3000 tank and digester projects using glasscoated steel technology. Glass-coated steel panels are highly resistant to chemicals, corrosion and abrasion. They have outstanding structural properties and offer an astonishing cost/performance ratio. In addition to glass-coated steel, we also use durable steel panels with a factory-applied epoxy coating as well as stainless steel when technical requirements favour these materials. This allows us to offer you the most flexible and economical custom and turnkey solutions made from the best quality materials available today. 1 Steel panels are prepared to FARMATIC specification. 2 Panels are coated with a special titaniumdioxide-enhanced glass coating. 3 Glass coating and steel panels are fused together at 850 Celsius. 4 Glass-fused-to-steel sheets are quality tested and shipped to the customer. CONSTRUCTION FARMATIC storage tanks with a volume of up to 20,000m³ can be erected without the necessity for complicated scaffoldings or cranes. First, one ring segment is completed. Using a special jack-system, the entire first ring is lifted from the slab foundation and the second segment ring is built underneath. This way, the tank is erected from top to bottom and can be built in record time safely on the ground. FARMATIC tanks and digesters can be constructed quickly and anywhere. They can easily be disassembled, relocated, or expanded.

EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY The FARMATIC digester system allows for hasslefree maintenance of all equipment even during operation. All components such as heat exchangers and agitators are accessible externally. OUR DIGESTER TECHNOLOGY The signature component of FARMATIC biogas plants are the vertically mixed tall digesters. The vertical agitator mounted on top of a selfsupporting roof keeps the substrate in constant downward motion. This way we achieve a continuous mixing of the substrate which prevents the development of swimming layers and sediments. As a result of the very low agitator speeds and power consumption and the highly efficient thermal insulation inherent to our digester design, we achieve exceptionally low power consumption rates in our biogas plants. FARMATIC digesters are well suited for optional thermophilic operation at about 55 C. www.farmatic.com/biogas-technology

GLOBAL REFERENCES In the course of the 50 years of our company history, we have successfully completed hundreds of biogas plant and digester projects. From the processing of market waste in Jordan, earthquake-proof digester technology for Japan, frost-resistant biogas stations in Russia all the way to biogas power plants upgrading their biogas to fuel for local public transport in Sweden FARMATIC Anlagenbau has the perfect solution to any challenge. It is our proven technology, our dedication and the global experience with the design, construction and commissioning of projects small and large that make us an internationally sought-after partner for biogas technology made in Germany.

BIOGAS UPGRADING Biomethane is assuming an ever increasing role as important energy source of the future in the mix of renewables. It is a storable and transportable renewable energy source. Upgrading biogas to biomethane and feeding it into our natural gas grids is a technology with a great future and a highly efficient usage. Biogas can be upgraded to natural gas quality using sophisticated upgrading technology that converts raw biogas into pure biomethane. The biomethane can then be fed into the public gas grid and used as flexibly as natural gas. Another example of the useful utilisation of biomethane is the conversion of the gas to CNG. A vision introduced by FARMATIC as early as 2001 is now state of the art. Today, entire fleets of cars are operated with biogas. FARMATIC cooperates with the most renowned providers of gas upgrading technology. FARMATIC biogas plants are designed and specifically customized to work in flawless conjunction with the biogas upgrading units. This ensures that you receive a high-tech turnkey solution that operates highly efficiently for the entirety of its lifetime.
