West Shore Pipe Line Company West Shore Pipe Line Company is a common carrier petroleum pipeline system that transports petroleum products in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. The system originates in the Chicago area and extends north to Green Bay, Wisconsin and west and then north to Madison, Wisconsin. The 650-mile pipeline system transports refined petroleum products to markets in northern Illinois and Wisconsin from the greater Chicago area. The operation and ownership of the original West Shore Pipe Line was combined with the former Badger pipeline system in 1998. 2

Badger Pipe Line System West Shore s Badger Pipe Line system is a refined products pipeline system that transports fuels from the East Chicago, Indiana area to terminal delivery points in the greater Chicago regions and parts of Wisconsin. The Badger Pipe Line system transports gasoline, diesel and aviation turbine fuels (aviation kerosene) throughout the region. 4

Response & Remediation Activities: Air Quality Monitoring Four real-time fixed monitoring stations Conducted 24-hour air monitoring in work area and surrounding community Air monitoring still being conducted at the excavation work area Discontinued surrounding community monitoring and use of the air monitoring stations when repairs to the pipeline were completed on August 31 16

Response & Remediation Activities: Soil Sampling Analytical data from the 59 total soil samples indicate that we have obtained the applicable state standards Soil samples collected from a North-South drainage ditch at the release site (included in the 59 mentioned above) indicated that WSPL could begin backfilling soil 17

Response & Remediation Activities: Soil Disposal / Excavation Excavation of known soil impacts continues As of October 3, a total of 7,372.68 tons of soil has been hauled offsite for disposal at the landfill Post-excavation analytical data was collected to verify field screening readings Continue obtaining backfill material Backfilling of the excavation already completed in several areas and we will continue to work to identify additional areas that can be backfilled based on lab results 18

Response and Remediation Activities: Cal-Sag Channel Booms immediately deployed across the channel Effectively contained the relatively small amount of product that was released Jet fuel is very buoyant and was contained and collected efficiently U.S. Coast Guard re-opened the channel on August 28 20
