Why choose to study for a BTEC qualification at David Nieper Academy? Employability Skills BTEC qualifications help you gain employment. The vast majority of employers require technical skills, knowledge and understanding, but they are also looking for employability skills which allow you to be effective and a good team member in the workplace. Unlike technical skills, which may become outdated over time, employability skills enable you to build a lifelong career and adapt to the ever-changing roles in our fast moving global economy. These skills include: self-management, teamworking, business awareness and customer awareness, problem solving, communication, basic literacy and numeracy, a positive attitude to work, and the use of IT. Pastoral Care At David Nieper Academy Sixth Form Business and Enterprise Centre you will receive one-to-one coaching to support you in reaching your potential and overcoming any barriers to learning. Business and Enterprise Sixth Form Choose from 2 Pathways: The INTERMEDIATE Pathway 1 year course This pathway is ideal for students consolidating their independent learning skills. Students in Year 12 study the BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Business and have enhanced employability skills which enable them to move on to: An apprenticeship Full time college courses A 2 year BTEC Level 3 course at David Nieper Academy Sixth Form Business and Enterprise Centre. The ADVANCED Pathway 2 year course This pathway is for students who are confident and ready to start their BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business qualification in Year 12. A higher apprenticeship Future employment University Both pathways combine school based learning and time with employers to provide the opportunity to apply knowledge in the workplace. If required, a re-sit of the GCSE examination in Maths and English is available for both pathways.

intermediate Pathway BTEC Level 2 First Diploma in Business (This course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs A*-C) Students will take a total of 10 12 units to complete this qualification, 3 core units, 3 mandatory units and 4 6 optional specialist units. ADVANCED Pathway BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business (This course is equivalent to 3 A Levels) Students will take 7 mandatory and 6 optional units.
