The advantages of fast, safe and dry installation were among the reasons that led Kier Construction to use these innovative materials for this project. 6
Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Cross laminated timber, known as CLT, are large structural timber panels formed from 3 to 7 layers of kiln dried and graded softwood glued in opposing directions. The unique nature of CLT opens up a whole new world of design possibilities its structural capabilities are similar to concrete in material strength, but it is lighter and from a genuinely renewable source. It is being used to form all manner of buildings including schools, health centres, offices and low to mid-rise accommodation, often as part of a hybrid construction using glulam timber.
