Campus Job Scope: Department Specific Job Scope: Positions Supervised: NA Essential Responsibilities: 45% CLASSROOM AND LECTURE HALL SUPPORT Serve as lead technical expert in ATS for all media systems installations, testing and debugging to complete fully operational digital multimedia support systems. Independently troubleshoot, repair and maintain digital data projection and multimedia systems installed in campus classrooms, lecture halls, and meeting spaces. Maintain equipment such as digital data projector, digital smart panels, Extron panels, TOA amps, wireless audio systems, DVD and video players, digital switching devices, digital audio systems, and remote control devices with associated cabling and wiring. Conduct routine inspections of classrooms and lecture halls determining the correct operating parameters of installed equipment, ensuring repairs are initiated and completed. Develop equipment and materials lists to support and maintain classroom equipment and

systems. Lead for the Night Crew to ensure projects and assignments are accomplished. Work closely with the Night Crew Supervisor to provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the night crew staff. Keep management apprised of projects and assignments status to include resource needs, schedule changes/delays, completion dates, etc. 35% EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION PROJECTS Lead technical expert for new media systems installations, testing and debugging for digital multimedia support systems. Independently research, design, develop, adapt, modify, diagram, document, fabricate, install, and upgrade a wide variety of campus digital media equipment including complex digital smart panels, computer/data projection systems and sound reinforcement systems in accordance with industry and campus standards. Oversee technical preventative maintenance and repair activities required in maintaining existing digital multimedia support systems. Develop project planning and bid estimates to present to management. Serve as lead for other technicians performing assembly and installation of complex electronic equipment and systems. Solely responsible for completing the most complex installations and maintenance. Modify or fabricate items to ensure equipment is installed properly and fully operational. Responsible for the technical quality and accuracy of all work performed. Independently performs all technician duties and coordination with applicable vendors, departments, co-workers and outside agencies to complete projects. Prepare technical drawings and designs to be included in estimates and proposals for installations. Make recommendations of equipment and installation techniques to accommodate room engineering peculiarities Stay current with state of the art media and delivery systems tools and methods. 10% MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT Assist campus faculty and lecturers as a member of the Quick Response Team by responding within minutes to classrooms, lecture halls, or meeting spaces for troubleshooting, repair and/or training to assist with the presentation of multimedia materials via computer, data projection, video, or traditional audio-visual means, or any audio system related problems. Routinely make independent decisions and follow up to resolve problem. TRAINING 5% Provide instruction to faculty, lecturers, and departmental staff and student employees on the usage of classroom installed high-tech digital media systems, components and equipment. Participate in outreach programs to the campus community about the effective usage of classroom presentation systems.

RECORD KEEPING 5% Maintain complete and daily accounting records and maintenance records. Provide records of materials and labor used during projects. Physical Demands: Accurate color vision and ability to see extremely close or far objects clearly. Work with small prints and schematics. Lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Work in confined spaces and on ladders. Work Environment: Background Check: Valid California Driver's License- University to monitor driving record. Employee will be subject to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (Pull Notice System). Occasionally work alternate hours and/or weekends. Yes QUALIFICATIONS Extensive knowledge of data projection systems, computer systems, audio systems, switching and control systems, and associated multimedia equipment. Knowledge of electronic theory, practical system designs, analog and digital circuitry. Skills to fabricate, install and assemble enclosures, equipment racks, electrical mounting devices and associated hardware. Minimum Qualifications: Skills to assess multimedia system needs and create complete design plans incorporating a variety of data and electronic equipment into a usable technological system. Experience in performing design, installation and troubleshooting activities on complex digital media equipment systems. Skills to design drawings and schematics of systems being installed as well as work with and interpret existing blueprints and schematics. Extron and Crestron programming Preferred Qualifications for Selection: Knowledge with all related measurement test equipment and waveform analysis equipment including spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes, DVM's, frequency counters, distortion analyzers, vectorscopes etc.

Knowledge of what media and distribution equipment is available, their capabilities, cost effectiveness and compatibility with other campus systems. Skills to assign and delegate work to others and monitor through completion by providing direction and guidance as needed. Skills to assess the quality of work done and communication skills to convey that information to management. Problem solving and critical thinking skills to diagnose a problem and determine steps necessary to produce an effective solution. Communication skills in order to interact with both faculty and staff in a manner that is consistent with accepted industry and university standards. Skills to instruct others. Skills to use computers for record keeping, making schematics and drawings, email, and meeting maker. Working knowledge of electronic, mechanical and installation safety standards.
