1. DESCRIPTION AND METHOD OF OPERATION Clarocompost BIOFILTER are modular biological filter for the biological degradation of odours and other volatile air pollutants contained in waste air streams. The bio filters contain micro organisms in a bed of organic filling material. The filling material consists of fermented and selected compost mixed with bark or bark products. During the bio filtration process, the contaminated air is slowly pumped through the organic filling material. The pollutants are adsorbed onto the filling material s surface, and simultaneously consumed by the micro organisms and transferred mainly into CO2 and H2O. This results in a almost complete decomposition of the pollutants with no hazardous by-products. A degradation rate of 95% is usually achieved. Function description Scrubber The polluted air is collected in the building and led through the exhaust air system to the scrubber. After the scrubber the air will be blown via the exhaust air distributor (1) into the bio filter (2) in which the pollutants will be biologically eliminated. The cleaned air can be blown back into the building (saving energy) or into the environment. The through put of the system (m³/h) depends on the pollution rate but is usually 3 5 times the volume of the building. 2. MODULE TYPE & CAPACITY Clarocompost BIOFILTER ECO & CM Systems are integrated into series manufactured standard containers as basic component, which receives a special interior treatment against corrosion. Depending the individual situation and application different types are available e.g. containers for hook elevator system (according to DIN 30722) or sliding joggle containers (stackable). A specific installation of the bio filter containers ensures a good and even distribution of the exhaust air into the filter material. The CM bio filter systems are provided with a removable roof, which can be adapted architecturally to the surrounding plants. According to individual requirement the bio filter can be implemented with a recirculation system (in order to safe energy) or a chimney. Optional thermal insulating equipments are available. Clarocompost BIOFILTER CS Systems are bio-filters with a constructed (concrete) surface containment equipped and engineered by Innprotech / and realised by local partners. These systems are tailor-made and adapted to specified requirements.
